Clearly not real, imagine Casemiro saying that
I’d expect Weghorst at our ‘pre-pre season’ Portugal training camp in a few weeks as a contracted player. It will be interesting what happens with him, not sure we’ve ever had a remotely similar situation to this before.

I remember when Technically Ron and Bearded Genius did stuff like this on Twitter ten years ago, some funny witty stuff. But surely anyone who's been on the internet for ten minutes can spot when something is so blatantly made up. Like you say though, staggering how many people believe anything if it's on the web. Makes the summer transfer window especially tedious.

The Club needs to do a good PR job on him - he’s a valuable asset. You can’t blame him for having his moment in the sun for his Country in the World Cup and his subsequent time at ManU.
Perhaps if he would now show his commitment to BFC in pre-season and publicly explain the reasons for his departure (with an apology) he could win back the fans - as Granit Xhaka did at Arsenal.
We as fans should also be prepared to do our bit and meet him halfway - the Club will be all the more stronger as a result.

But the fact remains he is simply not good enough to play in the PL, for United, Burnley or even Luton.

He will do well to be in two places at once, given he will be playing for Netherlands in the Nations League while we are in Portugal.

I remember kompany saying we have double checked the recall option after his wc goals and there was no option to recall.probably a clean slate for weghorst with no financial pressure on the club.Would it be the most bizarre thing to Happen if he played for us again I think not.

As for Weghorst himself, I think he’d be a useful part of the squad from a playing perspective but I’m just not sure his ego is suited to the culture Kompany has been building here. The other week he was making comments that suggested he wasn’t happy being on the bench at United, imagine if he’s benched at Burnley? Will he really go from playing at the Nou Camp and Old Trafford to Burnley? I don’t have anything massively against him and he’s engineered a decent career from being a driven character but not sure it’s with us anymore.

He’ll definitely be better staying in the Netherlands when he plays for the national team. There are more brothels there for him to score in, although I doubt he’d score in one of those tbh.

Have we not already made money on him with loan fees? We won't be hit with a big loss if we have and we sell him.

loan fee was about £2.6m from memory (might be wrong here)
We are still stuck with our initial outlay and trying to get that back.
Another big issue is that if we can’t get rid of him we are left with a player on probably £2.5m to £3m a year which could be totally out of line with the wage structure for the rest of the team.

Yes the loan fees are to pay for the wages and do not touch capital. Interesting one this one because apart from the PL he has always scored goals and has played quite a number of games for Man Utd - despite that I'm not sure he has enhanced his reputation.

Agreed - he’s a centre forward who failed to score a goal in a United team that has made loads of chances whilst he’s been there and have lost very few games.
Not only that he’s ended up missing a few sitters which unlike the sitters he missed for Burnley get magnified exposure at United.
All this has kind of taken away from his decent touch and build up play or even the fact that the manager picked Weghorst to start games a lot more than anybody expected.
I don’t think a PL team are going to want to buy a centre forward who has shown such a poor record in front of goal in this league.
The best we can hope for is someone thinks he can do a job in a much weaker league - like the Dutch or Turkish leagues and somehow they can afford his wages……or we might end up stuck with him or virtually giving him away to get him off our books and so the buying team can afford to pay him the same wage with the much reduced transfer fee.

Not sure where you got that figure from but I’d imagine it’s about right. I think a lot of the reported fee will’ve been performance related and quite clearly none of that will be due.
Very much doubt we’ll struggle to shift a regular player for Man United for a few that will at least cover our losses.
But I still think he’ll end up at Man U. ETH still plays him despite not scoring much. He obviously values him in some way. They want shut of Martial, looks like it’ll be tough to get Kane & if they do it’ll cost a fortune so a cheap back up striker on low wages will be just the ticket. I hope.

My other half took me along to the Man United v Fulham game on Sunday and I was hoping to see Weghorst get a chance to prove he can do a job for the Reds next season.
He came on as a substitute for the last 15 minutes. He showed all his usual willingness to run with his loping gait amusing the fans a little as he burst forward to support their attack.
He had a good chance to break his PL duck in stoppage time but miserably failed to hit the target from close in. To be fair to him (and I’ve noticed this on a number of occasions) he had made a good early run into space but Sancho took an extra turn and dallied on the ball. By the time he put the ball in for Weghorst he had a defender breathing down his neck which I think put him off a little?
Good player but can’t see him fitting into a closely knit squad that VK has built. Hope he has another gig lined up away from Turf.

This is what I can't fathom. His scoring record in Germany borders on exceptional. Did we just get the lanky Timo Werner and German based Strikers just don't cut it in the EPL?

Not sure where I heard it, but I'm sure VK has said that he's attempted to contact him on a number of occasions, but he never answers his phone, or it's off, I'm fairly sure that the quote included a quote along he lines of " perhaps he's forgotten how to speak English " ... It doesn't auger well.
Certainly, Dutch players have a history of falling out with Clubs, each other and National squad coaches ...

My prediction is we will terminate his contract by mutual consent and he will then miraculously sign a nice 3 year deal with another club whilst pocketing a substantial signing on fee in lieu of a fee. This is pure speculation on my part.

I don't see him being brought back into the VK set up. However, stranger things have happened. He would clearly need to prove his commitment to the team and the fans though.
If he proves that his attitude is right he could be the perfect replacement for Barnes. He's a Dutch International and he has a good goal scoring record everywhere but the PL! His size and hold-up play could be crucial and could help get our more creative players on the ball. He could well be a different proposition with quick, skillful players around him.

My argument is that there are players who can hold a ball just as well as him but can also score. He's had enough of a run with a stronger team than ours to prove himself and he hasn't managed it.
That combined with his attitude not only for wanting to leave Burnley which I sympathised with him at first for, but he seems big-headed. His want to start games will block other players from developing and getting enough game time.
I understand people want to give him a chance but remember when we get to mid season and he's not doing well and gets dropped, how do you think he will respond? It will end badly for us.

I also get the impression that V K worked his magic regarding team bonding, mentality, etc, I just don’t think V K would allow anyone to come into the squad and break that with an arrogant attitude problem which I believe Weghorst has.
