Hadn't realised that he was Footballer Of The Year, 1965

Well it was nearly 60 years ago!

Love 'em or loathe 'em, they did have some good players around that time.

What made you think of him?

He’d been a really good player at Everton. Big surprise when he moved to Leeds at the time given he was over 30 but did well for them.

Leeds went on to have some outstanding players - just a shame they played in the way they did.

It popped up on a footy facebook group.

An ex-Clarets star who started-out at Bury, when Collins was nearing the end of his playing career there, along with a future Citeh star, told me Collins showed the two youngsters how to break a man's leg, after training one day. He said he felt cold and very negative about it.

Bobby Collins, Billy Bremner and Norman Hunter....possible the three most cowardly, dirty players I have ever seen on a football field.

I'd take issue with that.

For me I'd step it up to probably, and if the number were 4 then the other one would be Johnny Giles.

You can list the whole team of Revie encouraged dirty bast***s for me, apart from Eddie Gray.

They that live by the sword......

I went to work in Leeds in 1963 and , having bugger all to do at nights ,I sometimes went to Elland Road if there was a match on.

I saw Collins deliberately flatten Derek Dougan who was playing for Peterborough I think. He got in close and jumped up catching Dougan under the chin with his shoulder .Pole-axed him .

He got a real come -uppance a few years later ( 1965 ? )...when Leeds played Torino away...some guy broke his thigh...finished his Leeds career.

Alan 'sniffer' Clarke rarely gets a mention but his over the ball skills were up there with the best, or is it worst.
