On the official website.

Doesn't seem to offer much, despite a substantial cost.
Or is it just me?

I guess that's it for the basic one, its gonna be the main way to try and get a walk on ticket basically. I thought this might be the case, which was a major factor in me taking the plunge and getting the season ticket.

What the heck is the £250 premium one about? Doesn’t look any different from the £35 one to me?

Have they accidentally announced this or something?

Out of interest, I have never been asked for or given my ST when making purchases in the club shop.

These memberships suggest you get some points back? Do ST holders get these?

I must admit it was a case of spot the difference, other than the price, for me too!

I've been reading both descriptions, thought I was going insane trying to find a significant difference. £35 one has "priory access to away tickets" and £250 one has "priority access to away tickets"...?

So what's the point?

Yes you have got something back for quite a few years now.
Think it’s 10% of the purchase you get back on your account.
Can build up to quite a lot.

If you are going to buy multiple purchases in the shop you can split these by buying the dearest ones first. The 10% is credited immediately and you can use this on your next purchase.

You won't be asked but if you offer it, the card is scanned and you get points which you can then use on future purchases or even on tickets now. It was worth 10% but I've noted they are reducing it to 5% for next season.

The £250 one doesn’t say after ST holders. A mistake or possibly controversial?

My take on it is as follows

It looks like the memberships are there for non-season ticket holders.

It's a way for non-season ticket holders to get access to tickets BOTH home and away.

I assume the difference in price will mean difference in priority.

So logically you could imagine it working in a couple of different ways.

If you have premium membership - you may get access at higher points level where as normal membership could sit either at a Lower points level, or between ST sales and general so you get priority over general sales.

Alternatively, you may get priority access before general sale on certain higher demand games in the premium but the normal may be for all other games and it sits between ST sales ending and the General Sale starting?

Will be interesting to see how many of the fans who prefer to do only away games find this approach.

The premium one has 'first' priority to home match tickets, so I'm assuming it puts them above bog standard members who only get 'priority'. It also says they get 'Access' to away tickets, which suggests to me they are possibly on a level par with season ticket holders in the queue.

Use to be a time the Junior Clarets was free

Considering most will already be STH and already get most of what’s included, £25 for a “chance” to be mascot, and what’s likely to be a generic/preprinted birthday card seems a lot

That was my thought re the away games. If you don't have a ST you can only access these when they reach general sale.

However whether this gives you access at the same time as ST holders, and/or before general sale - the details are not clear at all.

Could see it working that ST priority as it does today,
Could see a membership window also running along side this - so Premium Members with 5000 pts for example can go into the ST window with General just getting access before general sale.

There are no T&Cs or details of how it works so it would be mad for anyone to splash £250 without knowing that detail.

I'd suggest anyone would be mad to splash out on the cheaper option to be honest without some further detail.

I thought that, seems odd to advertise a service for £250 but not explain exactly what it is.

For the £250 option you get a free Twix, a voucher for a week's storage of your classic car in Lincolnshire, and a photo opportunity with a £4k watch.

Nothing inspires at all! Very surface info, no detail.
So instead of General sale, you can pay for 'General sale priority', as I read it, for £35.

How many times will there be availability?

For international, if I travel home, can only make one game. The cost of that game is now, off last seasons price £80.

I suspect the premium membership is an attempt to bridge the gap between those with or without enough loyalty points to access away tickets. I'm struggling to see what else it could be... and if we're really asking people to part with £250 for the "chance" to get away tickets I'd say it's ill-advised!

The international premium also at £250 is just crazy, especially for long haul supporters. £250 for the chance to get a ticket for the one game you can go to, Burnley v Brentford!! Bargain at £300 including the ticket. If you could make 2 games, you’d have been better off getting a season ticket.

With the stink the ballot thread caused I've got the pop corn out to enjoy this one. One of our resident posters will be along soon to show his outrage that his 40 years as a season ticket holder means nothing next to someone buying a 250 pound membership. Please remember the orient game folks :D :

Do you have to be a member to by a ticket in advance now then?

That’s how it reads to me. At other clubs, you can buy away game memberships to guarantee yourself first dibs at a ticket; I know they do something like that at Leeds.

I can’t imagine there’d be much take up with the way we currently operate as some of those with enough points buy tickets for people who don’t; unless you introduce some form of ID check, this will still happen.

Wouldn’t be a bad move if it was well thought out, and it might be as there’s little detail, so I’ll wait and see.

My word, if we’re allowing people to pay £250 to get first dibs on away tickets over the loyalty system (which has its flaws, but is pretty fair I think) the club are asking for a lot of very bad feeling.

At a time where they seem to have most onside that’d be the biggest own goal ever.

I’ve been very positive about what the club have done recently. It’s been managed brilliantly, but I’m totally against paid memberships of any form, never mind “pay a massive price to jump the away queue” memberships.

Doesn’t in any way align to our one club for all value. Unless they’re changing that to one club for all who can afford it?

Sounds like similar schemes to other clubs, also another way to stop home ticket sales to random people for certain games.

For example when we're playing one of the top clubs home ticket sales would potentially be -

Members
Then claret number holders
Then general sale

Does paying for a £250 membership get you priority over ST holders for away games? Or alongside them? Or after them?

I'm not sure if they've changed the graphic since posting earlier, but the main difference between the "normal" membership and "premium" is that the latter has "access to away tickets", whereas the former doesn't.

The premium doesn’t say “after season ticket holders” so this could put the cat among the pigeons by letting fairly well off people who don’t have loyalty points get in ahead of STH with lots of points.

It is also of course likely this is lazy writing and the full T&C aren’t yet clear and it doesn’t mean the above at all. We’ll see.

And throw in the ballot that was in place for the Rovers game being used for other high profile matches next season it becomes even more of a lottery.

I'm not sure it does, Jellybean.
It's very loosely worded. What it does say is that if if you buy the cheaper membership you are below season tickets holders for away tickets, whereas if you buy the £250 membership, you aren't.
They can't possibly mean that if you pay £250, you rank above STHs for away tickets, even those with 10,000+ points. That would be just plain wrong.
My guess is that the premium members would rank alongside STHs. Even that seems unfair to me, certainly to someone with loads of points.

The good thing is that it does not say you need to be a member to buy a ticket. Some clubs, eg. Brighton, won't let you in the stadium if you aren't a member or season ticket holder, and they won't even let season ticket holders share their tickets with non-members. They are determined to drive away new supporters.

This scheme, fortunately, doesn't do that.

Yes it would still not sit right if they were given the same access as season ticket holders, but as it says 'access to tickets to away games', with no caveats whatsoever especially for those with limited tickets available, and there is money being exchanged on that proviso, I can't imagine these people will miss out?

And what about Brentford? If you don't use your season ticket for a few games, despite paying for it, they can ban you from going on in future.

One of my golfing partners is a Man U STH. They have a similar policy, although he is allowed to release his ST to someone else a certain number of times per season.
I have thought further about our situation. If away tickets were available in the following order ( for example):-
1. 8000 points
2. 6000 points
3. 4000 points
4. Premium members
5. Members
6. General sale

that would seem fair
