Not sure what to make of them, don't particularly like the idea of kicking off with three of first four at home

We’ll be bottom of the league before anyone else kicks off.

Who would have thought that would be our opening fixture, and on Sky as well

Three of the first four at home is annoying - I will miss two home games now whilst abroad rather than just the one I was hoping for

We get one of the Man City games out of the way first - positive.
We also get a Spurs game out of the way early - positive.

Could be even worse if the Luton match gets shifted back due to their stadium not yet being ready...

First day of the season is probably a good time to get Man City at home to be honest.

Good point that. They'll be gutted it's Burnley as their first home game in the Prem to be fair.

That would be a concern - last thing we want is to start with four home games

Overall OK but not an ideal first fixture. A heavy defeat isn’t great for confidence and doesn’t show where we are at at against normal PL teams. As for Luton if their stadium isn’t ready they should’ve be allowed to be promoted.

We have to play City sometime I suppose - we can't read anything into that game as we all know we're likely to lose before it kicks off. Hopefully we can show a bit of intent like we did in the first half hour at the Etihad.

What you do realise is that there are no easy games in this division. Our first 5 home games are against teams who finished in the top 8, a very tough start to the season.

Only negative I can see is it gives 2 consecutive away games later on. Bournemouth and Brentford away on consecutive Saturdays is harsh.

Need to have a good run after the Chelsea game early October until Liverpool at Crimbo or we could be on a sticky wicket. Looking at the first 9 fixtures there's a chance for about 9 points but cant see us getting any more than that

Makes no difference, only thing to look for is getting Champions League teams on the weeks they have away matches, gives a slight advantage.
Noticeable how you don't play midweek in this league. One Tuesday night match at the Turf, maybe.

Two ways of looking at this. If it's a heavy defeat in the opener it's a psychological downer. That said, the opening fixtures traditionally throw up some odd results as some players still have their heads on sunkissed beaches and they dance around the pitch like fairies.
VK has brought the squad back surprisingly early so let's hope we have some new exciting signings fully in place and all minds fully focussed.

We have a habit of facing 'elite' teams first at the Turf. That's United, Chelsea, Liverpool and now City.
We've won two of the other three and took the lead via worldies at the Cricket Field end in all three of them (Blake, Arfield and Vokes).
So no need to worry.

We lost one at home all last season, I'd much rather be playing at home than away early doors and build some momentum.
To be honest though, I've no concerns at all about next year, lets just enjoy it. I'll bet we have more good days than bad, I just have a feeling it will be a pretty solid season.

Somewhere, on another thread, my predicted first fixture was Manchester City at Turf Moor.
It was just one of those that would create the big stories to launch the season. Pity it is Friday night and not Sat lunchtime.
So pleased we will be the first team to beat the Treble winners and be top of the league. That will set the season off well.
Up the Clarets.

Yeah City on the 31st JANUARY caught me out too and I thought it was New Years eve. Due to lack of games in Jan it tricks the eyes.
