All except Lord Bob are bang on trend for the time… bottom jacket button undone, slim tie Harry Potts tie bar is top notch. The days before American sportswear fashion took over, the polo shirt and Yale University top had arrived for youngsters and the first plastic (casual) trainers were soon to follow.

What struck me was that none of the suits looked stylish or properly fitted the person. Material not great either. How things have moved on!

Moving away from fitted suits, that had been the fashion…. Saville Row was the mod look… we are heading towards the casual look… off the peg suits… developing into the bell bottoms and kipper collars/toes in the next couple of years.

It's Bill Harvey, Grimsby's manager at the time.

Bill Harvey only lasted a season at Grimsby, after some key players were sold to balance the books ... then worked for Chelsea, scouting their future opponents, Northampton Town and finished as a Coach/Physio at Peterborough ...

Someone has answered it that it’s the Grimsby manager. He was there because he’d had to give Doug a lift over.

Bottom jacket button undone still applies now, probably always will, one of those classic rules.

Doug had a sweet left foot and his passing was so accurate

I remember seeing him score directly from a corner, CFS/LS corner. I think it would be around 67/68.
Great player

So do I...vs Ipswich in the run of 8 wins..terriffic goal late in the game..got Colin Waldrons autograph after the match, I remember saying to him that I didn't think we were going win today and he said neither did I!

Colin Blant scored our goal in that game.

Doug came on as sub for Dave Thomas & took the free kick which Blant headed in 8 minutes from time.

Don’t think he even played in that run other than a sub appearance.

He did come on as a sub, always thought it went straight in....no big screen action replays then....I know I was right about getting Colin's autograph though kept it for years!
