Just been leaked on the w88 website

If it is W88 and the name on the shirt is like it was on Fulham’s shirt last year,a big W with w88 underneath, then Wout will probably stay as his initials will be on the shirt.

While gambling companies are paying considerably more than non gambling companies we will keep signing deals.

Our competitors won't stop so we shouldn't give up the competitive advantage . These deals are easily a player or a chunk of a player

Everyone will have to stop as the ban kicks in for the 2026/27 season.

They paid Fulham £7 million for one season. If they pay us similar we can’t afford to turn it down. We need all the financial help we can get in the Premier League

that is an awful approach to taking on a sponsorship designed to circumvent legal restrictions in South East Asia
the fact that we now have two such sponsorships is even worse

Each to their own but personally I really don’t care about what is on the front of the shirt, football is a business now and it’s all about who pays the most, also having a better firm doesn’t suddenly make me want to have a bet, nor did having classic football shirts make me go on their website and buy a new classic shirt and whilst I’m at it it’s having oak furniture land didn’t make me think about going to buy a new dining table

I also didn't buy a computer from P3 Computers ...

Although our Kitchen Table and Side Board and Bed came from Oak Furniture Land, but not bought whilst they sponsored the shirt ... but because their products were what we wanted at a price that was right 🙂

It’s a sad reality that we are probably one of the most in need of getting into bed with these sorts of ‘companies’.

I don’t like it but until the option is no longer available, we aren’t left with much choice without being prepared to fall even further behind the rest, financially.

If we were prepared to take the moral high ground and opt for a reputable sponsor, there’d be plenty of backlash if it meant one or two fewer signings that would help our cause.

From what Pace has said previously, I assume it won’t sit comfortably with him. It’s money we can’t turn down. Hopefully down the line we may be able to attract better or comparable deals from elsewhere.

There are obviously economic reasons why betting companies ( and other organisations, ) are queuing up to pay clubs handsomely for sponsoring their products on their shirts. Most of us would like to think that we are not influenced in any way by sponsorship but the companies themselves are anxious to sign deals. There must be something lucrative in it for them or they wouldn't be doing it.

When we first went with FUN88, the kids shirts had BFC82 instead, in the same styling, which admittedly didn’t look too bad

So it will be similar to sky bet sponsoring the Championship? My son couldn’t have sleeve flashes when we went down the first time under Dyche. He was very disappointed. Let’s not forget, the players are heroes to the younger fans and it is a big deal.

Makes no difference to me what is on it. I wouldn’t buy anything advertised unless I already wanted it. It’s a shame for young kids though who have to have something different to what the players actually wear.

Absolutely valid opinion, but there will be many other fans who DO buy the furniture, classic shirt and, yes, start betting and become addicted to it because the name is on the shirts. The ones who are loyal, easily led, have an addictive personality and little self control.

Law of averages. Just like every time we go on the Turf there are 50 people whose birthday is on that exact day, there will over 100 addicted to gambling.

It’s abhorrent, immoral, and if the new owners have sanctioned it for a few extra quid they have gone down in my estimations after previous pronouncements.

it’s not the clubs fault if a gambling sponsor makes someone feel the need to gamble that is on the individual but I understand your point that it might make people who have addictive personalities but then if the club wanted to help people with Addictive personalities then they would need to remove alcohol from the ground. Every single sponsor if someone wanted to dig deep they could probably find something wrong with it’s past or some form or saga attached to it

not true - every club can, they may not choose to, but they can - and it isn't £6m/£7m it is the difference between that and what non betting companies are offering

The club obviously feel like they can’t afford to turn it down. You’re allowed your opinion on it and other people are allowed their opinion, you don’t agree with betting sponsors which is fine, I don’t think it matters at all.

If betting sites are to be banned from football then so should alcohol

The leap of “many fans betting and being addicted” isn’t in line with data. 0.2% of the betting population are at risk from problem gambling behaviours, as per the latest gambling commission reports. 99.8% of people enjoy a legitimate leisure activity with no risk of addiction.

Plus, you’ll see from the lack of UK based betting companies that people in the stands aren’t the target audience here. It’s a well established mature market now…. Many sponsorships don’t provide much roi, only the odd exceptional linkup that matches the brands very well, be it in football, horse racing (legacy deals mainly still standing, sponsorship in other areas shrinking) or anything else.

Well the club would be able to do a lot more if it hadn't had to:

- lend the owners £49.8m to pay for shares
- facilitate a loan with MSD to pay for shares that saw it pay over £10m in interest, over £2m in penalty fees and repay £33.2m
- before having to bear the burden on a refinancing loan of £39.7m (that cleared a debt of £32.8m) with annual interest of almost £3m a year, a figure that could be the difference between a gambling and non gambling sponsor

there is the further issue of what these 'white label' betting sponsors represent - there is much that is wrong with this beyond the issue of gambling per se

This thread is about the new shirt sponsor not the way the owners financed the club, so I don’t know what you have mentioned the figures you have above.
