New manager at the park view, Vintage Claret looking again

Is this indicitive that the area only gets custom during season time, or do you think the area in general is struggling to support so many pubs.
The dyche seems to be thriving.
i dont mind the vintage claret, but the last dozen times or so i've been in it certainly looks like a pub on the verge of closing down.
Park view is handy on match days, but charging £5 a pint used to grate on me
hopefully a new manager can make a go of it.

no, can get a pint for less than £3 depending on what you drink

they say their prices are set by the owners which i understand, but the service in there is shocking also. hopefully a new manager will improve it.

They do up the price on match days and significantly. I know people who have stopped going in because of that.

Nobody will pay 5 quid a pint anywhere in burnley really its crazy
One place next to another will sell at a 2 quid difference.

I go elsewhere on a match day, but certainly would not go there knowing that

The only way they would get away with that is if it was the away pub with fenced off walkway to and from the away end.
No chance

Unfortunately it's what's already happening. Was like that all last season. £2.50 normally, £5 on match days. Home fans only

I wont be bothering with it anyway. I tend to call in the Dyche, the Brickies or the 110 club, although this season i may just be dashing from the airport and get a drink in the ground.
Just goes to show there is a market for a quality well run fan zone

So many people saying they won’t/don’t go to the Park View, yet it’s always rammed on match days. Strange that.

I once went in with my wife & kids. Bought my wife a shandy, myself a pint and youngest a coke, but my eldest lad (16) didn’t want anything. As we were stood there he asked my wife for some of her shandy, taking a sip as the manager walks past.
He goes straight up to him, in to his face almost like he was squaring up. I didn’t realise who he was and thought he was kicking off with him at first, turns out he was asking him for ID whilst stood with his parents. :s
Anyway, we explained it was a shandy and actually his mums drink he was taking a sip of but he went to the bouncer and told him to kick us out. Even the bouncer said he was a complete ****.
So I’ve never been back and they’ve likely thrown away hundreds of pounds of custom to the club instead, just for the sake of choosing not to have a polite conversation.

As an aside I never understood why the club didn’t buy the Park View when it went up for sale - it was really cheap. £250k or something?
Could easily have been developed in to a great fanzine area with all the land it has.

I suspect the price was a damned sight more than that once the club asked

Price to the club was astronomical. Maybe the club should have used a group of fans to buy it for them.

Surprised to see The Brit close on Oxford Road. Always seemed a welcoming pub as a passer by and I was a big fan of their ‘lest we forget’ and red poppy insignia.

Not dissimilar to my experiences.
First one was in the post Covid regs where he basically tried to position 3 of us at different ends of the pub when there was no need. We could easily comply and be close enough to converse, it was just done because he could. We had one drank and left.
Second one involved my nephew. Been to an away game around Xmas time, got dropped off there, was playing pool and asked if they’d put the tv on with the darts on in the tap room. He refused saying if you want to watch darts sit over there. They said they wanted to play pool as well and he said “either watch darts or play pool, not both”. Baffling as it was on all the other TVs so not as though it was disturbing someone else’s viewing.
Straw that finally broke the camels back. After a home game, went in and they were showing some interview with an old footballer on Sky but there was some live sport on another channel. Asked if they’d turn the sport on and was told no. Put it on one of our phones and used a pint glass to stand the phone up so we could all see it. He sent the lady from the bar over to collect the glass and she picked it up making the phone fall over. When we asked her why we couldn’t use the glass she politely replied “do you want to do the f%%king washing up”.
Never been in since. Man’s an arsehole.

Wow! I thought mine were bad, that last scenario is shocking. Makes you ask yourself how much business he’s lost that place if us two have had those experiences, there’s likely countless more.
I tried to connect with their CEO (it’s a chain, forget who) on LI after my incident but he didn’t accept. Shame as he might’ve been sacked earlier if he’d heard what an arsehole he was being to customers.

I've been in once after a game against my better judgement but was outvoted. Beer over priced and crap, service poor, needs to do something to get me back in or even consider going in on a non match day.
