Strange way to announce a signing by telling us he needs surgery and then removing the information almost immediately

It's a weird one - when the club announced it today they referred to surgery. Then they removed that paragraph from their report. I suppose it beats the signing videos.

No thanks. They once filmed and showed Danny Coyne's ACL surgery. I can just about cope with Casualty on BBC but that was too much for me.

Not out of contract - we signed him in January on loan with an option to buy

Striking reinforcements now needed more than ever...that's Barnes, Tella Obafemi and Dervisoglu gone from last season's options, leaving us with Foster and Rodriguez. Centre Backs and Keepers aplenty, but its goalscorers who make the difference...

I don’t recall surgery before on a hamstring injury?

Or did O’hare have have surgery as well on this injury this time last season? Either way must be the worst grade of hamstring injury.Shame he really needed a preseason to get established, will be really difficult to do that now with so much transition going on in the team.

Also I assume his wages will currently be paid by Ireland?

He'll need a long rehab as well. Possibly one of the worst injuries for a speedy striker, just ask Michael Owen.

Yes, same as O’Hare who was out for around three months with that injury. I think Burnley might be entitled to some compensation but we will continue to pay him.

Obviously VK thinks he has the potential, but going to be very tough for him now to be more than a bit player this season. Do hope he fulfils this potential though as soon as possible , still young.

Will be difficult given he’s going to miss pre-season and the start of the season. But as you said, he’s a player VK wanted last summer so he’s clearly seen the potential in him.

Obafemi has played so few minutes - 12 league appearances, and all from the bench, averaging approx 14 mins per game

Think we just threw a bit of money at the attacking options in January to try to ensure that we got over the line in case Barnes got injured and Rodriguez wasn’t fit. Thankfully we didn’t really need to make much use of either of them.

And that was only in the Championship. Obviously the PL is a different level altogether. Swansea obviously didn’t rate him in the championship. As usual I would love to be proved wrong

Swansea valued him at £12 million and wanted to keep him 12 months ago, his head turned and we got a bargain 6 months later.
VK wanted him from the start.
Kompany has said he didn't need to adapt like Foster hence why Foster got the starts

Yeah he actually played up front with Payton at Hull under Stan.

Stan used him there for Bury sometimes.
