Edwin Van De Sar
In intensive care in hospital with a bleed on the brain. Fingers crossed he pulls through. A great keeper and one I remember in a bright pink outfit when we played Ajax in 1992.

Re: Edwin Van De Sar
Absolutely. Fingers crossed for him. Awful thing to happen.
Two years ago, this coming Monday, I was due to start my last week of the academic year at work (teacher). One of our nursery/reception staff didn’t come in that morning… She had been absolutely fine the week before, although on and off had been complaining about having a migraine.
Her husband had gone to wake her up because he thought she had missed her alarm, and he realised that she was non-responsive. She spent months and months in hospital, anfter having had a severe bleed on the brain and I very much doubt will never go back to work again. She’s in her mid-30s.
I’m so grateful that she made it through, but the quality of that has been reduced unbelievably. I visited her in Roundhay Park last Friday, where she was able to sit in her wheelchair and have a joke with us. She even took part in a treasure hunt. Her memory is still pretty sharp, although her speech and recall takes a lot of processing.
Enjoy the life you have folks; don’t go to bed on an argument; you just never know what’s around the corner.
Really hope Edwin Van De Sar pulls through this

I too remember him in the Ajax friendly. I truly hope that he recovers. Best wishes to all his friends and family.

Re: Edwin Van De Sar
Good luck to him. Some keeper he was.
Re: Edwin Van De Sar
My wife bled in front of me and passed on after 10 days
We had both previously decided not to have any heroics if we had big strokes
Doesn’t sound great for Edwin but depends what kind of bleed
Sir Alex had a bleed around his brain rather than into it hence his pretty good recovery
Hope Edwin’s is similar

Re: Edwin Van De Sar
Just found out. Obviously, you'd want anyone to get through this but when it's a person you greatly respect, well, you know.
I always thought he was hugely underrated. One of the best keepers in the last 30 years.
Thoughts and prayers with him and his family.

Re: Edwin Van De Sar
HIs condition is described as stable but still concerning - he remains in intensive care in a Croatia hospital where he was on holiday.
Ajax, on behalf of his family have said: "The Van der Sar family, along with Ajax, is grateful and deeply touched by the many messages of support."
I was unaware of this but his wife Annemarie suffered a brain haemorrhage back in 2009 from which she thankfully made a full recovery.

Just read De Gea is leaving Man U, no surprise.

Good news. His wife has just said he is in a non-life threatening situation and is a little bit more communicative at each visit.

Just announced he’s no longer in intensive care and it’s hoped he will be released from hospital next week

Re: Edwin Van De Sar
Underrated? One of the most highly-rated keepers in recent times. Not heard anyone say any different. Anyhow, great news he's ok
