Queen. It's like music for children.
Though I can't fault Freddie Mercury as a frontman, he is the best there ever was. So I'm a bit split on my own opinion

Rod Stewart.
The music is still great but the female backing band is so cheesy. Old man, young women. Puke!

Off to see Ian Anderson at York Minster this Christmas - looking forward to it. I've seen him at Ripon, Bradford and Durham Cathedrals previously.

Seen JT a few times.
Best was at The Albert Hall, Benefit tour, now that was some gig.

Exactly the point of the thread.
Early Tull is great, but if we follow them now we are just living in the past

Another one I used to enjoy, particularly the 1st and 2nd albums, was Black Sabbath.
I would never play that stuff now; doesn't make it bad, just not what my thing as I get old.

That probably isn't about the music, though.
Agree with the description of Queen. Most of the tracks are pretty shallow, OK until you've heard them a few times, but that's about it. Same (but worse) with meatloaf. Saw both live (to see other bands on with them) and that did nothing to make me think any better of them.
Never was much of a fan of aqualung although I still like some other tull.
Lots of bands go horribly downhill and suddenly produce crap albums. After a series of great/good albums, IQ went up itself with "resistance".

Arctic Monkeys, and specifically Alex Turner.
What an idiot that bloke has turned into. Well and truly bitten the hand that feeds him.
I think Liam Fray (Courteneers) needs to take him outside and slap some sense into him. Make a great album, play it on tour, give the people what they want.

It’s extremely arguable the Courteeners have ever made a ‘great’ album and you could also argue the only reason they play that one album, in the main, is because everything else they’ve done is well below average. Agree Alex Turner has fallen down the rabbit hole a bit, but I think he has slightly more credit in the bank than Liam Fray.

Big Tull fan here, but accept the criticism, Ian Anderson basically blew his voice out in the early 80s.
I think my answer to the original question is Metallica. Specifically, Lars.

Alex Turner is a bit of a muppet but lol @ even comparing the arctic monkeys with turd like the courteeners - leagues and leagues apart.
Feel a bit a bad saying this but Dave Grohl? Not that he’s a bad dude or anything, great guy but Nirvana were absolutely brilliant - Foo Fighters for me at least bar a couple of their early songs is like typical paint by numbers rock music. Boring
Chilli Peppers - new stuff is pure turd just chucked together to create an album - really poor live as well with Frusciante now obsessed with tossing his guitar neck off and showing off rather than serving the song. Also something a bit strange with 2 blokes (Flea and Kiedis) both now 60 dancing shirtless on stage.
Vince Neil - just retire man.
Slash - wrote some brilliant solos and riffs on appetite for destruction, now yet another egomaniac guitarist that thinks the entire show is about himself - see the Glastonbury set, overtly long, distasteful solos, tossing his guitar neck off… boring

Is this the same Courteeners that play Manchester every year and that’s it. Nobody outside of the North cares about them. AM have always been more than a “lads” band and have had ambitions to be far more than that. Liam Fray makes the same music now as he did when he was 19.

I think they’ve played all over the country and internationally this year and in other years. They play music that their fans and others want to hear. They made a brilliant album (St Jude) and they know that and play it. They also tour new material, and are writing currently for the new albums. So, I think you’re off the mark.
AM seems to resent the very music that made them popular. AT has a haughty manner, he seems to think he’s better than everyone else. He also doesn’t write songs that work outside small venues, but continues to cash in using the bigger stages.
LF throughout lockdown, did shows on Instagram and Facebook free of charge, to help people stuck in their homes. Says a lot about the man.

Arctic Monkeys have evolved as a band, their new stuff is brilliant - I much prefer it to the early stuff, which I still love.
The Courteeners are a band for morons who chuck pints in the air at gigs. A pound-shop kasabian.

Absolutely nothing wrong with trying to evolve rather than being a poor imitation of what you once were?
AT is 37, clearly a different person than the one that wrote ‘Whatever people say I am, that’s what I’m not’ and thats perfectly understandable.
The courteeners are pure shite mate.

There’s 50k people that would disagree who went to Heaton Park.
Always sell out gigs, do massive and intimate gigs.
Acclaimed set at Glasto, AM were rubbish.

Another call for the Artic Monkeys ( all bands evolve and that’s fine )
Coldplay - the very early stuff was excellent, but their morphing into this huge corporate stadium behmoth of middle of the road middle class “ mum rock” ,waving mobile phones and people saying “ omg they’re amazing live “is

.
McCartney - love the guy but his voice went 20 yrs ago and it’s painful to see him with multi backing singers, auto tune and his singing voice almost dubbed over .
