Owen Dodgson and Jez Davies

Only a friendly but these two were excellent in their play and both fit into the team seamlessly. Dodgson was very good at both right and left back and scored a superbly taken goal. I confess I’d never heard of Davies but he was really strong in the time he had and had that physicality you’re gonna need to get near this first team.

I hope we get these two some good loans because there is high potential here.

Won't do them any arm to be playing against quality opposition like Benfica and hopefully they will get more experience from going out on loan.

As part of our first team squad they have a role to play for us Owen showed good ability all round and can provide good back up .We must be careful where we loan players out.In the past we have failed to develop our own players by inappropriate lower level loans.

Can’t see them being in the first team squad and a good lain deal for each would be great to see.

It was interesting to see the both.

Dodgson was solid and flexible, defending in many areas and what a well taken goal - very neat. A promising first view.

Davies looked neat, tidy and glided around into the right places. Interesting.

Costelloe also looked good early on last season so let's not get carried away. I'd like to see more of both of them.

I try to keep people up to date with u21/u18 on here and he's played a number of u21 games since signing for us midway through last season - he'd been out of the game since last summer when Spurs released him.

He signed until the end of last season but then at the end of last month, this.

Interesting to read that in Davies' bio on the club site that he was "brought to the attention of Burnley via the Club’s official partner AiSCOUT".

Spurs fans are keeping a close eye on him, they had him marked as one for the future and by all accounts his attitude is spot on - just been unlucky with injuries.

Sending them out on loan gives them valuable first team experience they are not going to get here

And more importantly, gives them a shop window to show everyone what they can do, so if they aren't up to the standard here, then we can move them on or sell them for money (see Bobby Thomas)

I thought Dofgson struggled against the pace down their right, in the first half but looked much more solid in 2nd half, on the right. Took his goal well, too.

Charlie Taylor sorted the left side, 2nd half and remains the consumate defender.

Dodgson was up against Di Maria in the first half, Taylor struggled against Neres imo
