Seems like a missed opportunity if us over here in the U.S. are struggling to see this and at the same time we are recruiting JJ Watt and Dude Perfect to expand our global presence and our Chairman is an American?

Completely agree. Cannot understand us doing this at all if we don’t have a plan to release it to a US audience?

Also a bit shocked that the likes of Vinny hasn’t been promoting it more - radio interviews, etc. JJ and DP too as they will have a lot of UK followers. Just seems a bit quiet on the promotion front although maybe I’ve missed things.

We had this debate on Saturday in my local and the general opinion was Wilder & Rooney
So I assume the one that was too much like "Sean' Dyche was Wilder? Did they discuss Rooney?

No, I think it was just rumours and guessing, obviously could be completely wrong though

I'm looking forward to series 2.
Is there going to be a Season 2?

I liked it, but I also disliked it at times. If I wasn't a Burnley fan I don't think I'd watch it.
Too much pointless season reviewing, and weird games sometimes too. They missed QPR away, but instead showed a lot of poor results.
The behind-the-scenes stuff was the good bit, with Pace and Kompany and transfers. Would like to see more of that.

Anyone worked out who the other manager's name(s) were that were beeped out by Alan in Episode 1? In particular he mentioned one being too similar to Dyche. Allardyce?

Now finished all 4 episodes, enjoyed it although being a Burnley fan helps. A City mate was raving about it to me last night but of course similar point for him with the Kompany connection/insight. Suspect non Burnley fans might find it a bit thin.

Some good behind the scenes insights and Pace comes over well, even if he gives the impression he's winging it as indeed do his other compatriots. The locals seem to be doing most of the hard graft!

The language surprised and irritated me. Vinny only seemed to start saying the f word in every sentence towards the end of last season, it felt weird and a bit contrived to me. Odd.

(Realised i said Vinny then. Pace rubbing off on me, I've always said Vincent!)

Don’t know for certain but before the City game last Friday I met Alan and had a chat, the film crew were still with him and I had to give my details in case the footage was selected, so I suspect they’re filming another series.

I don't remember a relegation, just a re-set and squad re-build with Vincent Kompany managing the team.

Exciting times.

Millhead's manager Nick Clark with Burnley's chairman, Alan Pace
A Carnforth football team's unique ground enclosed by an old limestone quarry has appeared on a Sky TV documentary.

Millhead FC’s Iodine Park was shown in the opening moments of the first episode of Sky Documentaries’ new four-part series 'Mission to Burnley' broadcast last Thursday, which focuses on Burnley FC’s promotion back to the Premier League last season.

In the documentary’s opening scene, which were filmed back in spring, Alan Pace, who is Burnley’s chairman and the managing partner of Burnley’s owners since December 2020 – ALK Capital - is seen playing football with fellow ALK partners and Burnley directors - on the Iodine Park pitch, which is located in an old limestone quarry.

Footage of them playing football is taken both on the ground and from above the pitch using drones, regularly focusing on the large cliff which overlooks the stadium and is positioned behind one of the nets, making the ground unique.

A bird’s eye view of the surrounding area is then seen, showing Warton Crag, Warton village and Morecambe Bay looking out towards Silverdale.

Millhead’s first team manager Nick Clark had his photo taken with Pace, and he spoke to Beyond Radio all about their meeting a few months ago!

“We got contacted by Ad Hoc Films, who made the documentary, and at the time we didn’t really know what it was for, all we know it was going to be a documentary series about something local," said Nick.

“It was the first time he’s been at the ground, I think the production team liked the ground, it’s suited what they needed and it looks good on the TV.

“They had loads of drones, a film crew on the cliff and on the pitch, they turned up with five production trucks!”

Since the club took to social media last week to reveal that Pace had been at their ground, they have received a lot of attention online.

“Our league, the Westmorland Football League, are really happy about it," said Nick.

"We’ve got quite a few players who are Burnley fans so they were obviously buzzing about it too, and a few who are annoyed that they missed meeting him!

“It’s added to what is a very unique ground and it very exciting for the club.

“We have a lot of ground-hoppers, people who come in from everywhere to watch us, people from Sweden, Scotland, a production crew from Spain have come to the ground and it just makes the ground more special and unique.”

The club held a successful fundraising event last weekend."

The junior teams raised £630 from a coffee and fun morning, with all proceeds going to the club.

“We’ve spent a lot of money on re-doing our pitch this season for the first time ever, we’ve had it all laid, re-seeded and more, so this coffee morning was to try and get a bit of money back into the bank, spread the word and try and get the community involved, because the community are huge to us," said Nick.

“It was really successful and we’d like to do more over the season, the next one is probably going to be at Christmas."

The club’s first team are in a new division this year – the Westmorland Football League Division Three – after being transferred following a third-placed finish in their first season in Division 4, which they joined following their decision to leave the North Lancashire and District Football League in 2022.

The team clearly have what it takes to do well in the division, proven by the result of their opening day fixture against Eden Valley – a 4-1 victory.

“Last year was a real eye-opener to how good a Millhead side can be, because in quite a few seasons in recent memory we’ve been in relegation scraps," said Nick.

“This division is new to us but I don’t think we’ll be anywhere near the foot of it.

“Our aim this year is consolidation but our players are keen and eager so let’s see.”

The team have a new captain in Tyler Davidson and Nick says he will be a “real asset” who showed “great leadership qualities” even without the captain’s armband last season.

“He’ll push on the footballing side, he’ll be a player liaison, a smiley face with open arms.”

The reserves team have also changed divisions over the summer, leaving the North Lancs League to join the Westmorland Football League, joining in the fourth division.

“Going over to the Westmorland league, for both teams, is huge. It’s a nice place to be and it’s a platform to build on," said Nick.

“We’re the only side from around here apart from Carnforth who have two teams in the Westmorland league, so it’s a big pull factor.

“It’s so beneficial having both teams in the same league.”

The junior section of the club is doing very well too.

“We now have four active junior sides, two of those have started this year. Girls play in those teams too, and quite a lot of the children aren’t actually local and are from further afield.

“There’s a good balance of players who are close by and players who come from further away.”

The club are looking for boys and girls to join their under 7s and under 9s teams.

Under 7s train on Saturdays from 9.30am until 10.30am and under 9s train on Saturdays from 10.30am until 11.30.

If your child would like to join the teams, you can message them on the club’s social media pages.

Follow Millhead FC’s social media accounts to stay up to date on club news and updates.

“Mission to Burnley” is available to watch on Sky TV.

Presumably, given the picture of house in Windermere in the boardroom. One of them lives up there, or do they all live opposite the Northcote?

Less of a missed opportunity, I guess, and more a victim of Sky licensing. I'm sure the board will be asking the same question...

Comcast who own Sky also own NBC and Xfinity in the USA. There's practically no reason for it not to be shown here.

Just finished it all and now feel even more comfortable about Pace etc. being at the helm. I've said on other threads that, yes, they saddled debt on the club, but I think their business acumen and progressive approach to growing the club will generate more in the long-term than Garlic would have.

As johnnyjones says above, he comes across as a thoroughly decent bloke. I loved the bit where he returned to that lady's table in the fanzone to clean it. I think he'd have done that even without the cameras there.

Been saving this. Watched the first two tonight. It's still surreal to me we have someone as impressive as Kompany as manager. What a coup to get him.

And no-one can say Pace doesn't care. Watching games on a phone at weddings... wanting the world to swallow you up after a defeat. We've all been there. And his reaction to the goals against Rovers wouldn't be out of place in the Cricket Field.

As many have said - he comes across as a decent bloke.

And the shots of Burnley and surrounding areas are beautiful, atmospheric and genuine.

Enjoying it.

(Also enjoying Kompany's cap evolution. There was definitely a point where he must have said "Come on lads, sort me out, I need a decent hat, these are crap.")

Just watched them all again, Pace comes across as a genuine owner and as others have said a proper fan,OK his reputation is on the line but the goal celebrations are not for show they are full of passion. Kompany, well just cannot add anymore superlatives.

I think it was the Director that said in an interview there might be a second series. He said Sky are going to decide depending on how popular this one is.

Nowhere near as good as the Sunderland or Wrexham docos. My main issue is not following or getting regular comments from fans. Picking four or five supporters to give their views at various times through the season would have added some social diversity.
Just showing the big bare chested lad with all the tatts doesn't cut it with me.

That would make it a Burnley FC documentary though. If a club is its fans as is commonly believed, then a doc prominently placing attention on its fans would effectively make it a doc about the club. I've always maintained that this first and foremost is a doc about Alan Pace's ownership of Burnley FC, and that the club itself, by and large via Kompany as a more or less sole point of focus outside of Pace himself, exists merely as an object in relation to Pace, who is the subject of the doc. I know some people are like 'apologise Spiral, apologise Spiral, you're wrong, apologise', but this subject-object interpretation was the very first thing I ever said on this topic way back when, and there's nothing in it that convinces me I was wrong to anticipate such an interpretation.

Nowhere near as good as the Sunderland or Wrexham docos. My main issue is not following or getting regular comments from fans. Picking four or five supporters to give their views at various times through the season would have added some social diversity.
Just showing the big bare chested lad with all the tatts doesn't cut it with me.
Agree
The footballing side of the story was good
But, for me, Alan Pace and his gang came over quite falsely
From the opening shot of these guys just turning up for a Sunday kick about on a local pitch when clearly none of them could even play the game
And how many of the inner sanctum are there - the scenes of meetings showed between 10 and 15 of them - are they all on the payroll?
And get rid of that childish laugh Alan
Definitely needed some more input from fans - almost like a program dedicated to Pace and Co

As far as footballing documentaries go it comes across as reasonably well, I can remember being in disagreement with a certain poster on here about dyches belief he thought he could accrue enough points & the other poster insisting mee was resigned to relegation in the documentary he says nothing of the sort in the dressing room & maintains the same belief dyche had that enough points were available.

People will obviously have different views, which is usually natural and fair with this type of thing.

Personally, I'm glad that the emphasis was squarely on Pace, Kompany and how the club operates. Because it gives a completely different perspective and new insights into how the club is run, including the internal workings at boardroom and dressing room level.

I thought Pace and Kompany came across really well - your points about Pace being false and his childish laugh are not fair - and the production and content were excellent.

Any lack of input from fans wasn't noticeable to me and, to be honest, I read or hear enough nonsense from some so-called fans on here, including this thread, or at games for that not to be up my priority list for something like this.

I really enjoyed the series as have many people, and not just Burnley supporters.

The last thing we needed was more of the embarrassing fans featuring front and centre

I actually thought the down fall of the Sunderland documentary is that it featured too much of the fan perspective and they ended up almost irritating me. Glad this doc didn’t fall into the same trap. I thought Pace came across as genuine - a little awkward at times but genuine.

I definitely didn’t want to see or hear more from our fans. We all interact with fans on here on a daily basis, this was a documentary about the running of the club and rightly focussed on those running it.

Although I did expect to see more social media content - what fans were saying, how that impacts on those running the club, how views shifted over the course of the season, etc - maybe as pop ups on screen after results, etc.

I loved it, only criticism I’d make is I’d hand liked to have seen more about how the club is run. How a transfer is managed end to end, what’s involved, how do agent discussions develop, how are things “agreed”, what forms are completed, how do the media team agree a reveal video, how long does it all take, etc.

As fans we really have no idea on these things. Imagine being the most transparent team that just shows everyone how their club is run. Would be a powerful thing imo.

I’d also have liked to have seen more from what I’m sure are big characters in the club - kit ladies, canteen staff, groundsman, ground operation people, etc. Hope they’re more of a focus in any season two.

Agree with NewClaret, I'm happy there aren't any fan talking heads. That isn't the angle of the show. And we could all guess what they'd say anyway.

It would have been like reading this forum or Twitter etc after a match. Hardly anyone, apart from our own fanbase, would have stuck with it.

Yes, it's hard to understand how anyone could think it needed many more interviews with fans and less coverage of the people running the club when it's a series with the inner-workings of the club and how that translates to what happens on the pitch.

Loved it , made me feel good!

I’d forgotten how we overcame a really slow start to the season and what a pivotal moment Sunderland away turned out to be.

Included so many personal insights I doubt I would known about without this series. None more so than how Kompany had to deal with personal injury and close family health issues as a young player
