It's not that bad. I bet they could quite easily have shown a couple fly-tipped backstreets with dumped mattresses etc if they wanted to.

Oh come on, the shots they show are literally 50 metres from the Turf and where the mural is. If they'd shown the rolling hills and singing ringing tree people would complain it's not near the Turf and just a pile of scaffolding.

Let's not get over sensitive here. Burnley is Burnley. This is in part an Alan Pace production and think it is more about the rough diamond Outlook. Nowhere did I see in that promo Burnley fans being portrayed as knuckle dragging brexiteers

And out of those surroundings we have Turf Moor, a shining beacon that brings people together to support our club, which is now hopefully going to rise like a phoenix from the flames. That is the challenge facing Alan Pace and who knows, with VK at the helm maybe there could be some investment in those immediate surrounding areas.

It's not like they are showing something that isn't actually there. That's just how Burnley is.

When we played Chelsea in the league cup a few years ago I went on the coach from Turf Moor with my kids, it was a big thing and a great occasion for a couple of lads who had only seen us in the lower leagues (both had/have had season ticket since 6 hrs old). A sky cameraman got on our coach and started filming coming out of Burnley, past where the Mitre used to be, I was sat at the front and said to him “please tell me you’re not going to film terraced streets and leaking drains and portray an out of luck Northern town” he said yes actually he was and apologised but said that is what is expected.
I am hoping we’ve moved on a little bit on this one but not holding my breath!

having traveled to a few places around the world and especially in the US I'd like to make a pubic service announcement:

Most places are sh*tholes

I'm too tall for my knuckles to drag anywhere

Burnley is Burnley - not great, not terrible, and just a place that needs a bit more love (and money) and anything that helps that is fine by me

And the football club is the best thing in the town, and always has been, and always will be, and its something that still makes my heart lift everytime I see the ground on my way in from North Lancs

I went to some right sh!thole areas ... from parts of Preston, Blackburn, Burnley, Lancaster, Kendal, Keighley, Halifax, Huddersfield, Leeds, Bradford and probably one of the worst is in Harrogate ... yes "Harrogate" parts of which make "Buttershaw Estate" in Bradford look like The Royal Crescent in Bath ...

There are sh!tholes everywhere ... but Burnley is "Our Sh!thole" just as we sing when opposing fans sing "Burnleys a sh!thole, they wanna go home" we reply with "Burnleys a sh!thole why don't you go home"

Take a train into Philadelphia from New York.. now that's a sh1tty last few miles...or the road into New Orleans from Hattiesburg direction..

Places like that make Burnley look like a tourist destination.

OK, Burnley is a grim god-forsaken hole, but it's our sh1t hole. It's been on its arse for decades now and this sort of focus on its many negative points doesn't help anyone.

I think some people on here have turned whingeing Scousers.

Parts of Burnley are nice. Parts could do with a tidy up. Too much suffers from the ills of social deprivation.

But Burnley has tonnes of positives going for it. You've only got to walk 10 minutes from most places in Burnley and you're in stunning countryside.

Another of the cliches that happens to be true is that people in Burnley are (generally) very nice and friendly. Much moreso than in the south of the country.

If you were given the chance of a magical relocation to another town picked at random from anywhere on the globe, you'd be crazy to gamble on finding somewhere better than Burnley. The chances are stacked against you. Burnley's grand.

Burnley is fine, far nicer than many towns in the U.K., and there’s nothing wrong with terraced streets. Let’s wait until we see the programme before we get too upset.

We don't need to sell the town to ourselves. What we need to do is stop playing the 'poor little Burnley' victim card all the time. It's embarrassing and comes across like we lack confidence.

No it’s not how Burnley is,it’s how some of Burnley is.If you went on holiday and someone asked where you lived ,would you show a scruffy back street ,don’t think so ,most of us have started off living in a small terrace house ,a back to back ,or even Trafagar Flats ,but the majority work hard and better ourselves,whilst not being ashamed of our backgrounds we don’t need the media showing most peoples distant past.

I can walk to the Turf in half an hour ,and we’re surrounded by rolling hills ,like most areas within a couple of miles of town ,and how far is Towneley Hall away ,no chance media showing that ,still think we all have pigeons ,and chuffing whippets.

Not all terraced houses are small, and even if they are, for many (eg. single people or couples) they may be as good or better an option than a semi-detached.

I didn’t say all terraces house are small,I said a lot of us started off in a small terraced house ,we had front room ,kitchen ,2 bedrooms,and one was only a single so we could have an indoor bathroom.£1,600 ,& £16 / month mortgage ,parents lived in a council house ,but kids tend to do better than their parents ,it’s a bit like evolution of the species.

Glad someone else has the sense to realise that all the above are parts of Burnley,and BFC,it’s not snobbish to suggest the Burnley stretches from The Waggoners to Reedley to Worsthorne to the Yorkshire Border heading towards Todmorden to Padiham to Hapton.
