Absolutely agree with Copenhagen’s stance. It has become an industry and now reminds me of professional beggars picking the best spot in the local shopping centre to pay for their night out, rife twenty years ago.

About time. Some of the proliferation of requests at games of late are embarrassing. You know full well most of these shirts that are being begged for will end up on EBAy to the highest bidder.

Wonder what happens at Ewood where the players take to the pitch asking supporters for their shirt

My grandson's didn't. He wears his Anass Zaroury shirt with great pride. And on a cold, damp night at Stoke he didn't 'beg' for it either. Just sayin'.

It's entrepreneurism, what should happen if it doesn't already that it should be compulsory for X number of shirts to be offloaded to be auctioned off for charity on a periodic basis rather than individual gain.

If he had a cardboard sign he did beg for it.
If he didn‘t have a sign and Anass gave him the shirt without a sign then that is completely different. I don‘t think anyone has a problem with players giving kids their shirts, the problem is kids and even adults with tacky cardboard signs.

A lad I work with has managed to have his son (who hates going on when the weather isn't so good) collect 16 shirts over the last 2 seasons

If I was a player, and I wanted to give my shirt to a young fan, I'd purposely not give it to one holding up an attention seeking cardboard sign.

Get the stance but we are in an era now where access to players, access to facilities, access to matchworn shirts and access to digital is becoming increasingly for those who have considerable income or wealth.
OK, sending kids out like Oliver Twist to make money for adults (a minority I assume) is wrong, but in general, we should be careful what we wish for.
Personally I’d have a zone at the front of each stand for youngsters only at the end of games where players come and quickly shake hands and maybe a club official hands out some cheap freebies. When the youngsters become adults they would end up repaying that kindness a hundred times over.

Also because he has kid as some sort of kids member, he shows me all this stuff he gets off players every game like kit bags, boots and such. Hangs around for an hour or so when the players arrive in the car park. It's glorified begging and serves no real purpose. Yes he is a fan but no one needs that much stuff for free. It's not like he lives in a big mansion and can frame every shirt
I still cherish my red nose tomato football that I caught in the old Longside many years ago. I dont think my dad would have ever dreamed of pimping me out to get match word shirts

It's the same kids everytime, you even get the four kids at the bottom of the cricket field hitting up players before the match to come back to them. I have seen them several times reach over and grab at/ try to get the players before they start doing warm ups, then get on at the security lady usually there to nudge the players for attention

I too am fed up with these begging signs. There are lots of kids who would love a shirt but can’t get near the front. Why not have a draw for all match ticket holders or child match ticket holders to give all a chance.

I’d be for this
I’ve said many times that the shirt auctions that they do for things like the Poppy Appeal limit the number of people that can participate, and should be held as a raffle
People made the point that it wouldn’t raise as much money that way but we saw that wasn’t the case when they did it for the “Endsleigh” shirt last season

They did.
There was a video recently of Mason Mount telling a group of them he wasn’t signing anything for them, just like he hadn’t signed anything for them for the previous 2 days they had asked

Good. The club are very "sign ist" too
. A mate of mine took one on saying "Johan, I don't want your shirt,but can I have your wife"? Just for a bit of fun. JBG and the others players were laughing their backsides off, unfortunately a rather miserable steward decided to rip it up.
In all seriousness though it has become a far too popular craze now, and it looks tacky in the ground and on the TV. Why not just do as been mentioned on here, a couple of different players shirts every week go into a free ballot for anybody who wants to enter? In saying that the way the shop is run etc you could enter to win a shirt, and end up with a Burnley cushion..

I can understand the feelings on here but I have to admit I hadn’t really given it any thought till now. I never saw it as a problem really but everyone has their own opinions.
Just wondered though has anyone at Wimbledon ever considered it ‘begging’ when the kids congregate near the players tunnel wanting those giant tennis balls signed or even programmes? It’s happened for years. And autograph hunters (which I have never done) have been at forever. A friend of mine used to sell rare football programmes and general memorabilia and he said some signatures on anything would bring a fortune. Is this any different? I don’t know but surely if someone can make a bob or two selling this stuff (and whose to know how much is being sold) then how is that bad considering how much some people need extra cash right now.
Not being critical here, just genuinely wondering what the problem is.

I think there is some logic to this, rather than just finding kids annoying. I saw Mason Mount getting harassed in the street recently for stuff. I guess if you allow or encourage this stuff in the stadium, it soon spills over into people hanging round training grounds, car parks etc, competing for what are pretty valuable 'trophies' to sell on.
Having said that, I did get John Deary and Winston White to sign my shirt when they stumbled out of a WMC in Accy years ago and they were more than happy to do so. I was 12 in my defence, and didn't have a cardboard sign.

But famous people do get harassed, it’s part of being famous isn’t it? Autograph hunters and even paparazzi have been harassing people for years, and Beatles fans would have ripped bits of their bodies off if they got hold of them. I can’t help feeling that it’s all a bit of an overblown problem really. What’s an odd shirt here or there?
Just my thoughts though.

Not against signs with kids wanting a shirt/photo etc but can their parents just keep hold of them until full time?
Brownhill isn't exactly going to turn around in the 5th minute when taking a corner and hand his shirt over.
