Mobile phone question…
I’ve been with O2 for years and have found the network coverage to be excellent.
However, Sky mobile have some decent offers but I wonder if the network signal would be as good as O2. Is anyone with Sky mobile?

Re: Mobile phone question…
We were with EE and the coverage was good. We have since moved to O2 and the calls drop out regularly and the 4/5g coverage is quite poor in comparisonLoveCurryPies wrote: ↑Thu Aug 03, 2023 11:58 amI’ve been with O2 for years and have found the network coverage to be excellent.

I've been with Sky mobile for a few years now - it uses O2 network. Crap on the Turf and crap now in centre of town (but that seems to be universal) - otherwise no problems at all.LoveCurryPies wrote: ↑Thu Aug 03, 2023 11:58 amI’ve been with O2 for years and have found the network coverage to be excellent.

Re: Mobile phone question…
As CT said Sky use the o2 masts so the reception will be exactly the same.
Absolute nightmare in Burnley town centre (I live in Tod so it's not a HUGE deal for me) - but no chance of signal at the Turf.

Re: Mobile phone question…
It depends where you live.
I have 02 because they're the only network that works in my house.
I had Orange/EE when I first moved in but couldn't get a signal.
I had to leave my phone on the windowsills if expecting a call.
Do you still get a 2 week trial with contracts to try out suitability?

Re: Mobile phone question…
No mobile network is going to work well at half time on the Turf especially if people try streaming things. Also a Turf Moor WiFi network would also struggle at such peak periods.
Re: Mobile phone question…
Sky use the o2 network
You also need to bear in mind there is a mass infrastructure upgrade going on nationwide. Upgrades to 5G in masts with imminent switch off of the 3G network
Thats causing disruption to service wheras before it may have worked for you well
Utilise wifi calling in your house or office

Yes, my existing O2 signal is crap in Turf Moor. Really frustrating when I want to check other scores or even send a message home.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Aug 03, 2023 12:09 pmI've been with Sky mobile for a few years now - it uses O2 network. Is that likely to improve?

Re: Mobile phone question…
Been running Sky mobile on 3 devices for about 3 years now and used to work for them…as others have said they use the O2 infrastructure. One of the benefits of Sky that I utilise regularly is the Piggybank and the ability to change your tariff yourself depending on circumstances.

Re: Mobile phone question…
+ Sky Mobile has roaming at £2/day which includes USA which is good for me.
+ uses O2, which is the only network that works at my house
- Device support is rubbish. My Pixel 4a has no 5g, WiFi calling or VOLTE. OK on iPhone or if you buy a Samsung from Sky, otherwise not.

The town centre issue has been recent which suggests it is because of potential upgrade workJambounchained wrote: ↑Thu Aug 03, 2023 12:11 pmAs CT said Sky use the o2 masts so the reception will be exactly the same.

Re: Mobile phone question…
Has there been any indication of long the work is going on for and how many providers are affected? If I remember correctly, the signal issues at Turf Moor started part way through last season.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Aug 03, 2023 4:07 pmThe town centre issue has been recent which suggests it is because of potential upgrade work
I’m on EE and had always been able to get 4/5g outside the ground and to a reasonable level (if sometimes slow) within the ground, although never at half time.

Re: Mobile phone question…
Long time since I was able to get a signal inside the ground or outside within an hour of kick off. But it's been a nightmare in town recently on any day of the week, been going on for some time now.DCWat wrote: ↑Thu Aug 03, 2023 5:42 pmHas there been any indication of long the work is going on for and how many providers are affected?
