Some supporters should be ashamed of their behaviour.

I agree, but the general feeling towards investors/owners from the US, bearing in mind what has happened elsewhere when such moves have been made, was negative. Indeed there were rakes of such emotions on here at the time, and it is still touched upon regularly. People were worried and rightly so. It doesn't mean I condone what was said to Mr Pace or his family, I don't, but certainly during or after a match when emotions are running pretty high to begin with, I'm not at all surprised that some clearly became lost in their frustrations.
Coupling the takeover with Sean Dyche's removal and the subsequent relegation did appear for a short time to be mirroring what had happened elsewhere.
With hindsight, Mr Pace had a clear view of what was required to lift the club again even then. There were rumours of Kompany and co rocking up via Twitter while Dyche was still at the helm.
I think it's fair to say that Mr Pace has quashed 99% of such worries with his ambitions for the club. What he, and we need now, is for the upturns to continue on the pitch.

Really sad, but not unexpected.
The same thing will happen at every club that gets relegated. It is probably worse because being American, he probably wasn't expecting or ready for it.

The poor, misguided provincial people of Burnley have much to learn from their metropolitan neighbours.
Take, for example, the warm welcome the supporters of Metropolitan Manchester United extended to their American owners and the leveraged buyout.

Who was blaming Pace for our relegation?
I don’t recall hearing anything along those lines

It's not on and those people should be ashamed of themselves, but at least let's take a positive from this, because I'm sure Pace does. I mean, take look at this comment from him: I would have to say that a number of those same people have come up to us and apologised, which I would never have expected or asked for. That has been amazing.”

Probably some easily influenced individuals who read some stuff on here and other platforms about foreigners investing in the club

We still have an amount of debt, regardless, that we'll be saddled with. That's the nature of leveraged buyouts.

We’ve got posters on this board making FOI requests for information and involving MP’s in things because they don’t like the owners.

There was ok Enty of criticism for the board and it increased when we sold some players. Asset stripping and sportswashing two notable and ridiculous accusations.

A lot of supporters shone a light on the mentality that needed to change, forever stuck in their ways in the little Burnley mentality and couldn’t comprehend giving the new owners any sort of chance despite people trying to tell them otherwise. I hope they are ashamed

There were a few with hilariously poor takes on the transfer window last year but on the actual relegation I can’t recall any negativity towards the board.

The educated fans who didn't agree with the buyout didn't behave in that way yet the knuckle draggers make the headlines again.

“Then walking down the street and people are waving at you with one of their five fingers."
I wish you'd said 'Digits' Alan, lest some of our Lancashire neighbours use this to solidify their observations on our hands
Joking aside - absolutely terrible, but when we have Burnley fans booing a player literally playing for us nothing surprises me. All clubs have their 'element', shall we say...

Regular behaviour for the Bob Lord standers to "Storm the directors box" shouting "F off and Die".....
this is what happens when you let the likes of CTID in there isn't it?

Can you even make an FOI request of a private body like a football club? Or were they addressed elsewhere? Thought they were only for public authorities.
A monumental waste of time in any case.

I cant imagine shouting to someone ''f off and die'' unless it was some horrendous child killer on his way in to court/prison.
You've issues if you cant control your emotion to that extent because there's no way they actually meant what they were saying, especially to a man with his wife and child that's done nothing wrong and doing nothing to provoke you. Like I say, the mind boggles but I've no doubt its true

There is an advert, playing literally every break on Sky programming with the thickest Burnley accent possible saying “These Americans, they don’t get Burnley” or something like that.
To suggest the owners didn’t get stick/blame is daft.

The ground wasn’t a toxic atmosphere at all went we went down, despair if anything.

They’ve took plenty and continue to from some very prominent posters.

We will see more ******** stories like this come out around the documentary.
Influencers do this in every industry of life.
Because people are gullible and will believe it.
There will be plenty of cameras around the directors box, put the proof in your doc.

One of the producers of the doc even said there was 0 toxicity in and around the ground when we went down, when interviewed on the Turfcast podcast.
He even made reference to how different it had been compared with other relegations he had witnessed - specifically mentioning Leeds the season just gone

"Pace insists he was reluctant to let the cameras in and uncomfortable in front of them."
Which is odd given, the documentary maker said in an interview with Turf Cast last week that the whole thing was Pace's idea and he went to them asking them to a doc about him and the club.

Massive difference between concerned fans wanting to scrutinise the finances of their football clubs takeover and fans being abusive to the Mr Pace and his family.

I’m sure there was not zero toxicity but I do think that the vast majority of fans were resigned to relegation on that last game. I don’t remember seeing any angry fans or any vitriol directed towards the players or the manager that last day.
Is there ever any games when there is “zero toxicity” at the Turf ?…..even when we are having a brilliant season there are some fans who are never happy about a certain player. We sit near to someone who used to give Danny Ings dogs abuse even in the season he was the best player in the league and we used to also sit next to someone who felt the same way about Robbie Blake.
There were people round the ground who did not understand what David Jones brought to the team and you felt that regularly from pockets of the Bob Lord stand.
So relatively speaking the relegation seemed to go with an air of acceptance and that we had done well to avoid it for so many years.

I made comments to my friends that I was very disappointed when we went 1-0 down, I was trying to make some noise seen as it was the potential biggest game since Wembley (factoring in we had just lost our manager of a decade and was in a ton of debt), Pl day trippers / prawn sarnie fans were looking at me like I had three heads. Comments will always be made by the few, some of which will be truly awful - though this particular accusation may end up going the way of another
https://www.theguardian.com/football/20 ... .%E2%80%9D
though one comment one in the article struck me is Pace being reluctant about the cameras, which is decidedly different to what was stated by the Executive Producer of 'Mission to Burnley' in that Turfcast interview - where Pace was always open and made the initial approach to them

There are some that will never accept owners from elsewhere, it's what residents of Royston Vasey do, then there are those desperate to find some form of wrong doing (the FOI being about as embarrassing as it gets from a "fan") although it has to be said there are far fewer disparaging or patronising comments aimed at the owners compared to when they first arrived fortunately.

you will find that I have mentioned that a shareholder in the club has done these actions, I am unaware if that person is a poster on this board. You have inferred on a number of occasions that this is me, that is a categorically incorrect association - I have never held shares in the club and said as much a number of times

I suspect the big learning curve for Alan was how passionately we take things here compared to what he was used to at Salt Lake etc.
The flip side of the anger is the joy, the selfies etc after promotion. It was no doubt an adjustment to someone not used to the public eye, whether he now in hindsight enjoys it, only he can answer.

Not a lack of caring, but perhaps similar to having an aged parent die after months/years of suffering; the fans were emotionally exhausted long before that final game.

And what Everton fans were doing to keep their club up at the same time.

I’m one of those who isn’t head over heels with Mr Pace like some people on here who think everything about him and ALK is perfect.
Although I still hold some concerns about the debt, the leveraged takeover, etc. what he has done since taking over has wiped away 90% of that concern for me. Couldn’t ask for anymore than that.
However, despite my strong opinions on the negatives, I would never condone such poisonous vitriolic abuse or harm against him or anyone associated with the takeover, as I am a grown adult and I’d like to think the majority are with me on that front. I certainly don’t think anyone would blame him for the relegation. For me, it was the result of a criminal lack of investment in the playing staff over the 2/3 years prior to his arrival.
