I saw it mentioned a couple of days ago somewhere that he was about to sign a new deal - but finally confirmed this afternoon. It is, in effect, just one more year; he was already contracted for the next three years.

Apart from Kompany extending his own deal, this is the best news of the summer for me.

What a player he is - magic.

That's just fabulous news. Sacha Tavolieri said on that podcast that Benson was only interested in playing for Burnley in the PL this season, but that didn't stop the suspicion on here that he was being lined up for a sale.

Fingers crossed he gets over his injury very soon and he gets back to being the match winner we know he is.

It is, as I posted above, just a one year extension, but he's a match winner and the longer he's with us the better.

I suspect it’s a pay rise and maybe some protection for the club in terms of a minimum release fee.

It's fabulous news, i just hope his trademark "cut inside and curl it to the far post" is as deadly in the PL as it was last season.

Lot of rumours of other clubs showing an interest, hardly a surprise, and so a pay rise will make it much more likely that a move can't/won't happen. We'll have some benefits in the deal too, as you say such as release clauses.

Nigel Pearson summed it up after he scored his most recent goal. He said they knew what he could do, devised a plan to stop it but just couldn't.

Excellent was unstoppable in 2nd half at Sunderland.

Remember after two games he was written off with no end product? He is the player that gets you off your seat the most. Not had one like that since Blake and Little

Typical winger - so often frustrating but then with the ability to lift the entire place although I didn't expect him to do it in four successive games. I don't think I've seen a winger with the ability to go inside and get shots into the far corner like that since John Connelly.

It's not so much the extra 12 month he's extended his contract for.
It's the statement he's Happy with us and is going nowhere that's more pleasing

Never saw Connelly play but ive never seen a player be so productive from the diagonal ball to the back post.

He did it at Sunderland as well.

We got a lot of goals at the back post last season.

Those four games on the bounce were just unbelievable especially when he evaded three defenders at Bristol when they knew what he could do-and he did!!!!
