Huge Burnley fan and a very nice chap too. He scored a fantastic goal once you know…he’s told us a few times 😆

Any memories you’d like to share?

There's the Swansea goal of course.
But my favourite memory of AH is when he belted the ball home in front of all the fans at Deepdale in the Sherpa. We went frantic.

My Hoskin highlight came two seasons ago when, seeing me struggling up the steps at Newcastle, he helped me get up there.

Smashing lad, daft as a brush, but claret and blue through and through. Had some real talent too and I always thought he might have played at a higher level.

Agree with ElectroClaret on the Deepdale night and that goal at Swansea will live forever.

And don't forget, he's the forgotten man of the Orient game, sat next to Brian Miller and Arthur Bellamy that day as our substitute.

I'll not forget his dad Marv either. He was of similar stature to his son but drove huge American gas guzzlers. Many a time I've seen a car going down the lane at Gawthorpe with seemingly no driver. Marv sadly passed away around four or five years ago.

I probably saw him play once or twice as a kid but I can't truly remember as I was so young.

Did an injury hold Hoskin's career back?

Sounds like he's a decent bloke and very much "one of our own".

John Sitton broke his leg at the start of a game with a really poor tackle, I say tackle it was more just a horrible foul really

He's a good lad

Is that the same John Sitton who is seen ranting in YouTube videos?

Ash is still a massive Burnley fan and regularly travels to away games with Accy Clarets. He never lets us forget that goal at Swansea on a mud-bath of a pitch!

Always at the centre of practical jokes along with Peter Leebrook as apprentices, remember Ash and a few of the other apprentices( Darren Heesom and Gordon Connolly) having wheelbarrow races Down the side of the ⁷Bob Lord, Ash and Gordon were in the barrows Darren and I think it was Donald Duncan were pushing the barrows when Jack Butterfield appeared, what a bollocking that was, but like everyone says what a crackin lad

Lovely footballer Hoskin - everyone remembers the goal against Swansea, and quite rightly so.

I recall him also scoring the winner against our "rivals" Stockport County at their place - think it was the 86-87 season.

One and the same. It was a dreadful foul and got a straight red in the first couple of minutes back in an era when GBH usually attracted a finger wagging from the ref. I had a bit of an exchange with Sitton on Twitter a few years back when he said something like I thought you tough northern types loved a good hard challenge. Nothing I like more but that was a disgraceful assault on a teenage player starting his career that left him with a broken leg.

And I will never forget him lashing the ball home in front of the packed away end at Deepdale in the Sherpa Van.i was in Spoons a few years ago before the Liverpool game with Beeky and Ash was sat behind us. I showed my son the Swansea goal and said that man is sat behind us. Came over and had a good chat with us. Top lad.

The first player that I remember, as a kid, thinking that he had real potential. A really talented young player.

Never the same after that horror tackle, sadly.

First minute, leaving him with a broken leg.

It was in the Orient season and a key win on a Friday night, and he was a lovely footballer.

Only saw the home games, but he was running the show before that tackle. He was targeted

Being an ex Huncoater myself and literally following Ash,s career, when he was a young lad,I can only say, what a top guy he is!

He really hasnt changed one bit, bar a few pounds and lack of hair.Saw him score some tremendous goals, for the clarets, back in the day,but the Swansea away one will never be bettered...bee line for the opposing goal and wallop!

He was my first ever Burnley hero, loved him to bits. As a 10-11 year old, stood on the Bee Hole End, I always got the shivers when he started driving down the wing.

Replaced by Wout obviously

I had the pleasure of playing with Ash at Burnley Bank Hall along with many other ex Clarets under Taffy's stewardship.
Very talented footballer and as others have said a massive Burnley fan.
I believe he's currently Head of Talent at Accy Stanley

There’s a lot of love for Ash. Perhaps he doesn’t get the recognition he deserves as a local Burnley lad, who wore the shirt with immense pride.
