I don't tend to listen to the pundits anymore, but what an absolute whopper this guy is - can't believe he's still getting the opportunity to give his 'analysis.'

Those comments say far more about him than Burnley.

The sort of person that comes out with such mean spirited tripe, totally without justification or provocation, is a very unhappy and bitter individual for whatever reason.

The fact he's such a whopper makes him what he is in the punditary ecosystem. All football fans know he talks nonsense - he knows it and BBC know it too as they prop him up as the long established football expert/pantomime villain.

It's a bit like Chris Kamara being the comic relief on Soccer Saturday or Micha Richards being the enthusiastic laughing boy next to the honest grump that's Roy Keane.

They're like cartoon characters.

He is a Crook - been stealing a living from public money for how long now? 30 years? He is so irrelevant, he never appears on ANY other programmes, something that could never be said about any other BBC “ luvvie”. The Corporation is well known for getting their monies worth out of their “ stars”, but this bellend just gets rolled out on a weekend during the footy season. File under cock jockey.

It’s weird how opinions vary. Max Rushden and Charlie Baker on TalkSPORT on the Saturday morning were talking about how brilliant we looked playing out from the back and taking the fight to CIty. I thought that was a little exaggerated but we were certainly not woeful.

Absolutely nothing wrong with Gladstone. Always seems a decent guy. I've always liked him, and he doesn't steal a living at our expense like Crooks.

We have been treated with complete respect by Guardiola in both the cup and league games. Just about his strongest XI in both games.

We know more than anyone what City can do to a side, I thought we put up a far better fight than most of the previous meetings against them over the past few seasons.

We're getting better at a rate of three goals per game. That's a big improvement.

At this rate: Next game will be 0-0. After that we're on course to win 3-0.

In only two seasons time we'll be thwolloping them 12-0 and 15-0. Scorelines so big we'll need to invent the word 'thwollop' just to describe the magnitude our victories.

But for the meantime, I'm going to bed to think long and hard about what I've posted.

Crooks is still a bellend though. That's the key message.

"When people ask me if I like football, I say yes, I do like football. But not Burnley. Burnley can **** off."

We played alright and nothing more.

Yes, City are the best club side in Europe but they didn’t really have to get out of second gear to cruise to a comfortable three goal victory away from home.

I don’t think there was a particular spell in the game where it looked like we might get back into it and I can only remember one tame effort on target.

City will do the same to most teams though so it doesn’t worry me too much.

The same crap that they were coming out on Sky after MNF about how ‘we only have one style of play’ despite playing a brand new system/formation against Man City as though we have some weird purist way of playing with no changes.

The level of punditry is shocking, you get better watching random YouTubers / bit of Tifo football / chatting amongst your buddies because on the big shows the tactical analysis and breakdown is pretty much non existent.

In a previous life, used to work on Final Score (not for the BBC, but a company sub-contracted to provide graphics for BBC Sport shows. I can confirm that the producers and directors at the BBC think Crooks is a clown and he is definitely there for comedy value. I remember raucous laughter in the gallery on many on occasion when he spouted some of his usual nonsense. So I really wouldn’t worry about his opinion.

They kicked Crooks off Final Score a year ago. I can only think they keep him doing his team of the week (which is generally just a list of people who scored) because it gets lots of hits from people who love to whinge about it.

This thread raises interesting issues relating to some of our fans ( and probably fans of any team).
By this I mean the propensity to be offended , or upset, or angered by the words of people for whom, clearly, they have no respect.
Why would you let that happen?

Just ignore them. Listen to those whose views you value.
