Adblue - any pumps in Burnley?
Posted: Sat Aug 19, 2023 9:03 pm
by Sean Dyche's Watch
Our car is telling us we need to top up with adblue.
First time of doing this, so I've done some research, and it seems using a petrol station with an adblue pump is the easiest option.
Are there any adblue pumps in Burnley?
Thanks

You've got 300 plus miles until you need to worry, homebargains when you next see one, £4.99 for 5ltr.

Even if they don’t have it on pumps, most have it in 10 litre bottles to fill yourself. Probably cheaper to buy elsewhere though.

You can buy it at most service stations ... but some cars don't react well to cheaper brands ... Jaguar/Landrover especially ...

Covered above available online dirt cheap or sometimes Aldi or supermarkets. Lady place is a garage, where you will pay much more. Easy to pour in.

Need to be a bit careful as if you run it down too much eventually the engine won’t start, but if the warning signs have only just started you normally get about 1500 miles.
I used to get it from Asda, then noticed the pump at trafalgar st and been filling up there since, although I’m pretty sure it used to be 99p a litre but has recently shot up in price.

A quick look online at your make of car should say how big the Adblue tank is and how much it takes to top it up...

The forecourt pumps don't work for me - just constantly click off, must be a pressure thing or something.
Back to the 10L containers.
Audi A6.

Add emonade and a slice of lemon to produce a very nice summer drink. Added benefit for others, is that it reduces your emissions.

You get 3 warnings before your car runs out
1500miles
1000 miles
500 miles
At 0 the car won’t start when turned off
Not all cars will accept pump nozzles at fuel stations, but all fuel stations sell Adblue in the 10ltr containers
Also, it’s not made using pig whizz

There's an app. Adblue4you. Tells you all the places there is a pump. I don't fill mine with tubs at all. A complete waste of plastic. To say adblue helps harmful emissions, then sell it in big plastic tubs is a p*ss take in my book.

Thanks everyone for your replies.
All sorted this morning at Kitchens on Trafalgar Street using a pump. 10 litres for £17
Whilst leaving the forecourt, I noticed that they are selling 5 litre tubs for £12, so I think using the pump is quite cost effective.

Like most other things, the price of adblue is an absolute con.
It was that long ago it was costing our company less than 40p per litre for it.

There you go again with that sophisticated wit again.
I bet you are doing similar jokes at the bacon counter in the supermarket and have them rolling round the aisles

As a side issue, were any off you told about the adblue when you were sold the car? Mines a company/lease car and i was just given the keys and no idea what it was until the warnings started flashing?
