Re: Palace v Arsenal
I could do with Arsenal winning by about five and Saka scoring them all. My fantasy team needs a rescue act.

Re: Palace v Arsenal
I agree with that, can we make it Arsenal winning by 15 though and give 5 each to Nketiah and Odegaard as well?ClaretTony wrote: ↑Mon Aug 21, 2023 8:12 pmI could do with Arsenal winning by about five and Saka scoring them all. My fantasy team needs a rescue act.

The Palace goalkeeper kit could be seen as a clash with the home shirt ??
Re: Palace v Arsenal

Re: Palace v Arsenal
Wasn't there a rule that the fouled player had to have some sort of control of the ball?

Partey looked to be holding the Palace player back.
Re: Palace v Arsenal
Yep foul on the palace player and the attacker kicked the ball out of play, no control whatsoever, with these decisions its going to be a long season for the underdogs

Was Odegaard’s first Arsenal goal against Burnley? Free kick at the Bee Hole End?

Re: Palace v Arsenal
Rubbish goalkeeping. No idea why goalkeepers rush out and dive into the forwards path with their arms outstretched in those situations. Maximum risk for minimum reward. Nketiah was watching the keeper instead of the ball for the entire run and knew he just had to get a touch on the ball and collide with the keeper to get a cheap goal.
Re: Palace v Arsenal
Was that the one where it wasn't a corner and he scored with his hand , I hate Arsenal

No hope for these refs.
Re: Palace v Arsenal
Daft that VAR can't look back on a 2nd yellow.

Refs just trying to make up for his gaffs

That red card is just embarrassing for the ref
Genuinely ruined the game over absolutely nothing

Pathetic decision. Honestly refs have started this season appallingly.

Struggling to see how that isn’t a penalty either?

Ref definitely fulfilling his Prem league mandate. Arsenal at all costs.

Re: Palace v Arsenal
No problem with that not being given. Touching an opponents leg with your own and falling to the ground shouldn’t be a penalty in my opinion.

Re: Palace v Arsenal
Ayew had already been booked when he fouled Saka and should have been booked again and sent off. It was a much more bootable foul offense. Not fair.

Re: Palace v Arsenal
It’s the precedence that has been set this season. That can’t be a penalty last week but this week not.
If we are going on precedence set this season then that is a stone wall penalty.
Simarly they have just sent off Tomiyasu for taking someone down on the break, 5 mins later Lerma does the exact same thing and doesn’t get a yellow.
The refs having a shocker

Newcastle, you can't say that because a mistake was made in awarding a penalty last week, that the same mistake has to be made from now on, under the heading of a precedent.

Re: Palace v Arsenal
Or consistency.
Re: Palace v Arsenal
Palace looked good considering who they were playing. Just a bad mistake that led to the penalty was the difference. The goalkeeper had to do something as his defenders completely missed the run by Nketiah. What else could he do - stay on his line? It was of course a pen.
Ref was quite correct to book Tomiyasu for time wasting - we all want that don't we even though of course he was a victim of his colleagues. From TV it looked like the second yellow was harsh as there didn't seem to be any shirt grabbing but Ayew, although he had a good game, is a cheat too. So is Eze sometimes. It seems Zaha has left a legacy.
Enjoyable game though and generally well played by both sides.
As for the ref, he got the red card wrong but most right. And of course there was no big team bias. Some people are just waiting for refs to fail.
