Strange one this - doesn't appear to have done too much but VK obviously knows all about him

A somewhat strange signing this one as he’s not exactly been a regular for Anderlecht by the looks of it!?
Best of luck to the lad though and welcome to Burnley Hannes!

And I think it's caught the club out - apparently they've sent out emails with an incorrect spelling of his name.

Got into the national team in 2020, but has had injuries since...obviously a decent player when fit, and played for kompany previously...Good signing

From reading some Anderlecht fans comments he is injury prone, slow and more of a CB than a LB.
Let's see how he gets on. Kompany knows what he is doing.

Putting his last name as Gruber is a pretty epic mistake to make!

Ah well. One good thing I suppose if he picks up a lot of injuries whilst at Burnley we won’t get to hear about them.

“You moved over to Belgium from Haiti, aged 2….. how was the move”?
“Actually I don’t remember the move, but my parents looked after me”.
I’ve stopped there - I assume the rest will be “what do you think about the facilities and did you come here because of Vincent Kompany”?

Like Bruun Larsen, a very strange one on the surface but VK has all that credit in the bank so I’ll happily trust that there’s something about this lad.

He's been compared with Kompany many times. Kind of has a similar playing style. Tad smaller than VK, a bit less of an alpha male you could say. But a smart guy and a good player allround. Wouldn't call him slow. He's pretty decent/above average at defending. In a good day and top fit he surely has his place at Burnley. I recon he'll be really motivated and training hard at a good level. He might even surprise the lot of you who don't know him yet.
I always love seeing him play because he's always thinking forward, very good on the ball. I think we are doing a bargain and getting a good team player that hasn't any real weaknesses and can add to the build up play. Good endurance and pretty fast. Pretty good in the air although I do think he can improve still in the physical aspect of the game. He should still become more dominant more agressive. Vinnie can bring him that. If he can stay fit we got a player that can be worth 10-15 million easily.
The reason why he didn't play much last season are injuries, weird coaches and Vertonghen being brought in for no reason playing on his position. They tried putting him on the left too but that's not his best position.

Clearly a very good player who should have the necessary ability for the PL.
The warning signs about his injury record doesn’t make me confident that he will feature though as much as I always get excited by a new signing

The underwhelming signings can sometimes be the best ones and I have a feeling this might the case here.

Comes across as a good lad in the interview. Good luck to him.

Welcome Hannes...you will do well.
I doubt many had heard of Benson, Beyer and Zaroury 12 months ago...so enjoy the ride.
The only way is up!
