I thought this was going to be about the signing of a certain player from last season.

Even worse,I thought we'd signed Gary Glitter.

I should have been on the cancelled coach.
The headline for this game just had to be that really given it was sung all afternoon by the Burnley fans even though it brings Glitter into mind.

What a great side that was.Fantastic players through the whole team.Lost the FA Cup semi final at Hillsborough against Newcastle and Malcolm MacDonald that season shortly after Norman Hunter cowardly crippled Frank Casper and ended his career.

Never realised they played county cricket there. Was the shape of the pitch unusual for a cricket ground? Or did they have more to make use of than just the perimeter of the football pitch?

I went there in the Sixties. The football ground had only 3 sides with the Cricket Pavillion on the right as you look from the away end. So the cricket square itself was at right angles to the football pitch as I recall.

The pic below is how it was at the time. When they built the stand on the fourth side, the cricket pavilion was then at the back of the main car park, but it's since been demolished.

The music stands up for itself. The man needs keeping under lock and key.
