Clarets v Villa Match Thread

Looks like a return to 4-2-3-1 with Delcroix straight in.

Good to see Benny in.

Delcroix in at left back I imagine.
Bit confused how so many of our centre backs can be injured/not available.

Midfield and attack look strong. I fully trust where we’re going but that doesn’t look the lineup of a club that’s just spent £100 million!

No Beyer. Club on X this morning said no injury worries apart from Obafemi....

The Beyer rumours had some substance. No Ekdal or Taylor on bench either, looking a little thin defensively, but that's an exciting looking attacking line-up.

Come On!

The club said just this morning there were no fresh injury concerns. Either that was an outright lie or there’s other issues going on with Beyer and Ekdal.

We have spent around £80m to be fair.

Ramsey on the bench and Odobert not in yet.

I wonder how the front 4 will line up?

I have seen some people stating that Benson will play behind Amdouni, not sure that would be correct but who can second guess us now? it certainly would make sense to have Foster on the left again after City, but just looking at the picked players surely Amdouni is more natural behind a central striker so possible Foster up top with Amdouni behind him.

We really have no idea how this line up is going to work, but trust that VK and the staff must be happy with it.

Benson right, Amdouni central, Koleosho left, Foster up top. Reckon that makes more sense but you never know!

Vitinho provides the defensive cover, with Delcroix the cover at centre half.

Surprising team. Be interesting to see how Delcroix goes- pitched straight into a Premier League game - and how Amdouni gets on in what will presumably be a deeper role at the head of midfield rather than up front.

The other surprise is Koleosho. I thought he looked exciting but very raw against City, but clearly Kompany has seen something in him. I assume he'll start off the left today and it will be interesting to see how he does.

Villa missing a couple. We could do with capitalising.

Injured or are we going to announce something? Odd that neither are involved though if none of them are true

Edit I was thinking for Taylor and Ekdal not Beyer think it is clear he is injured.

Trafford
Roberts O’Shea Al-Dakhil Delcroix
Benson Cullen Berge Koleosho
Amdouni
Foster

I would assume? Delcroix to move centrally when in possession and Roberts to move up into midfield.

I think this seems most likely, but at least he keeps it interesting!

According to Fotmob

Trafford
Roberts Dakhil O'shea Delcroix
Berge Cullen
Foster Benson Koleosho
Amdouni

Interesting set up if right...

Looks like a clear 4231 like last year with

Benson Amdouni Koleosho
Foster

Presumably the front 4.
Looking forward to seeing how they get on.

Just on way home listening to talk sport and Mickey Gray ran through the line up naming Benson as part of a back 5. When the presenter said its good to see him starting after his performances last season, Gray said, yes he can also play in midfield!

Beyer a big loss, but a great opportunity for the other lads at the back to impress.

Awful by Trafford caught in two minds

Muric should be starting

Also I really don’t like this setup that VK has put us in these first two games. Killed our passing lanes imo

Trafford playing because of his price tag is scandalous. Most of our play last year came because of Muric and his passing.
