Will we see him again in a Burnley shirt?

Yes
Brownhill, on the other hand…

Hopefully we do, more concerned about when we'll see Muric in a Burnley shirt again we miss him badly

When he had the ball today he was immediately surrounded by 4 Villa players and had no back up from Roberts

Seeing Dinge leave him for dead after about 15 minutes confirmed to me he shouldn’t be starting games for us.

Agree there, Digne had the freedom of the Longside that first half

We seem to have changed the way we play, with Trafford in goal. Is that simply because Trafford doesn’t have it in his locker or is it a change to how we are going to play?

We should do -
He was on a hiding to nothing today playing that role with our set up.
He’s not a wing back is he. So why play him and expect him to have all this defensive responsibility?
Re: Benson

It’s incredibly tricky because he’s a match winner. However, as others have said, he doesn’t contribute defensively. We simply don’t have the luxury of being able to get away with playing wingers that don’t provide defensive cover.
I wonder if a sizeable offer comes in, we might take the money and strengthen the team elsewhere.

A player recently signed a new contract and some posters still think he's leaving.
Maybe Amdouni and Trafford go as well, Jele Vossen style.

Benson’s going to horses for courses, just as he was last season.
He’s not a player to have on the pitch when you need him to get through a shift off the ball. Kompany wasn’t starting him every week last season either.
Against a note negative full back than Digne or when chasing a game, he’s your man.

I noticed they kept putting players round him. They had obviously looked at him and decided he was the danger. We needed to play faster to give him more openings. Playing slow passes gives teams a chance to surround him.

I was surprised he started.
Brilliant going forward , nothing going back.
Like others have stated impact sub.
Thought we set up a bit strange today which certainly didn't help him. Coming up against strong athletic midfielders won't help his cause.

What’s the obsession with signing a contract. Several players have signed new contracts and moved this window. It gives the player the comfort of the new contract if a move doesn’t come off and his club the ability to ensure his price stays high as he’s not going OOC.

Bit different signing a new 4 year deal to a player extending for a year and then going on loan so that the selling club still gets a fee, not the same context at all

3rd was in the bottom corner so I think that’s quite harsh. Doesn’t help that the offside Watkins was stood in his view, mind.

Muric looks dominant and his defense trust him. His distribution is top drawer and gives us a platform to build on.
Trafford looks indecisive and his distribution is weak. He made a couple saves in second half and imo he was unsighted for the third by an offside Watkins.
Muric dominates his third of the pitch. Trafford does not dominate his six yard box
No doubt Trafford will become an excellent keeper but he is miles short of that now.

I think Muric is vastly improved keeper .. with less prone to making calamities than when he first arrived .Trafford is obviously a good keeper and currently getting the nod .. that might change

People have some very strange memories of Muric. Anyone with no context would read this board and think he was a in prime Manuel Neuer based on some posts.

Show him down the line and you win the battle as he has little impact with his right foot
Digne plus others had him in their pocket, and he could not get anywhere near Digne when he pressed forward into our half
Redmond would be a better option

He very obviously had a stunning season for us last time out. But I haven't agreed with people's optimism about him ahead of this season. I obviously hope I'm wrong but I think he'll be dealt with by defenders. Once you stop him cutting in, he doesn't go on his right very often and he's next to useless when we don't have the ball. I wouldn't have been devastated if he'd have been sold. Clearly hope he has a belter though.

Told to toughen up and shrug off hard tackles last season.
This season he’ll be penalised (wrongly) for not going down in situations like when he beat McGinn a few times today and had his arm pulled back as he went past him. Unfortunately in the prem those are the moments you “have” to go down or you’ll just get frustrated when the opposition do it.
He would have been great down the middle today to allow play to go through him and have a chance at the odd pop shot but getting double/tripled up on by good prem standard players won’t suit him much.

Benson will be fine. He’s getting his sights on the goal for his benders . Early days yet but we will be laughing later in the season.
By the way get over blaming him for defensive frailties

You do understand that this new contract replaced rather than extended the contract that Benson already had and which had 3 years remaining on it; giving MB a pay rise and 'extending for a year' his obligation to BFC.

But it’s still completely different context to the poster saying people have signed new deals this summer and still left, Raya at Brentford signed a year extension and then left on loan purely so they get a fee for him, that’s not the same principle as benson signing a new deal

Brownhill must be properly pigged off and surely must be plotting his exit before Thursday. Whether I think it's right I'm unsure and I'd definitely have picked him for the last two matches.
