Let’s hope the manager puts him on the pitch then

Why he is not starting is a mystery to me. He was one of the best players on the pitch at Forest, and was every where. Is he carrying a knock (he is not playing as if he had one), is it he wont commit to a new contract, or does Vinny not rate him enough

I think that the opportunity to sign Berge came a bit out of the blue (can't remember days/weeks of links like with most of our signings) and its altered Kompanies plan. Sure Brownhill would have been a guaranteed starter otherwise. As with the Muric / Trafford situation, can Vk drop an expensive new signing so quickly?

I think atm we need to start with Cullen, Brownhill & Berge but in time 2 players need to do CM, which will require VK to have a fluid system of 2 wing backs and 2 wingers that are a LB, RB, LM, & RM when we’re up against it.
Most seem to be deciding whether Brownhill or Berge sit it out, I’m thinking that I’d play those two

100% need to see Cullen brownhill and berge as a 3, if clearly worked for last 40 min away at forest in the cup

My concern is we don’t have anyone barking and organising the team now that Cork doesn’t play and before him Heaton etc, and that could be hurting us more with a lot of new guys trying to learn the system. With that in mind and until the new guys bed in I would be tempted with Brownhill, Cork, Cullen.

Cork and Brownhill must be fuming that they aren’t starting and Taylor must be perplexed as to why he isn’t even on the bench.
A true test of a manager is when things aren’t going well. Interesting to see if VK adapts hai approach after the internationals. I really hope he can and last season wasn’t a flash in the pan.

As mentioned several times. Browny was/is carrying a knock. Originally from Blackpool away and aggravated at brizzle.

He couldn’t be risked to start first couple of games and probably still.

Why did he play 90 mins mid week if he’s still carrying a knock

This nonsense isn’t from his brother is it?

At, the moment,Vinnys plan is not working, and needs to change, the obvious,Muric,Brownhill, etc, looking to the future ok,but now need the blend with experience, now for a good solid result,to get us up and running, job for the men not the boys,at the moment,UTC.

The ‘nonsense’ was from his brother after browny got massively disrespected online following a bit of paper talk linking him to West Ham.

No reason to believe it wasn’t true, why would you?

Unfortunately I can’t quote (some glitch on board).

The Forest game was a while after the villa game and he’s now obviously approaching fitness. Maybe that was his fitness test, who knows but generally better to be safe than sorry with these things.

To be he always comes out with this kind of stuff

Let’s be honest he featured all through pre season playing plenty of minutes. Then three days after villa played 90 mins.

Doesn’t suggest he’s carrying a knock at all

Brownhill was at right back.

The midfield three was Cullen, Berge and Redmond before the latter was replaced by Amdouni.

I thought we looked more open with Brownhill on the pitch, he ran away from Maddison to let him bend the 3rd goal in.

One thing missed by all of you. Drop Cullen. He's been as poor as anyone so far yet he seems to get ignored/a pass. Play Cork in his position. Not been able to dictate and spent most of yesterday chasing behind Maddison.

Just seen the highlights, Brownhill was at least 30 yards out of position for this goal giving Maddison a clear run to goal

Nobody was out of position, we had just tried to play out from the back so that’s why delcroix and roberts are so far to the left and why al-dakhil and Beyer are so far right, it’s a complete mix up between Beyer and O’Shea, brownhill is positioned to receive the ball from playing out from the back

The gap between defence and midfield in that clip is absolutely insane. Even if we were trying to pass out, someone whether that’s Brownhill or cullen is at least 30 yards out of position.

It was literally like the parting of the Red Sea between defence and midfield

But that gap isn’t just because it’s brownhill, that gap has been there every game this season whether it be Cullen and berge or Cullen and brownhill, due to the fact of us playing a 2 in midfield, we don’t have Cullen as the Pivot in front of the back 4 who would of been in that space. It’s on kompany and his tactics not on brownhill

They didn't seem to be any hunger or fight to close down it's unusual to let somebody who offers so much of a threat to have so much room to basically do whatever he liked.

That's absolutely fair, but doesn't appear to be the case when it comes to the majority using Berge as a scapegoat and ignoring similar if not worse performances from Cullen.

I too think that its the tactics causing the weaknesses in our team. There is literally no midfield protection of our defence and our defensive line is too high meaning one semi-direct ball creates a clear cut chance nearly every time.

I honestly think we all just need to calm down. A lot.

Nobody thought this was going to be an easy start. Yes we have been slapped by 3 extremely good sides, with top class talent throughout their teams.

We are a young side who are learning.

We have one the most intelligent managers in the game.

Stick with the players and stick with the manager. Can't believe I am posting this on 4th September. Got some bad news, by 7th October we have to play United, Newcastle and Chelsea. After that we play some sides who haven't been in Uefa / Champions League in the last 5 years!!!

By then the players will have settled far more than they are now, and Vinny and his team will have had another month with the lads.

I expected similar results but have been shocked by the performances or lack thereof. However, I have also seen alot of positives but in very brief spells. VK is far more intelligent and informed about football and tactics than any of us and he's already proven to improve players and systems. We have every right to be frustrated, annoyed, disappointed, embarrassed, etc. by the season so far. However, I agree that we need to have some reflection and perspective. Its probably going to get worse before it gets better but i am extremely confident that the better will far outweigh the current worst and we will be safe.

I replied to him saying "Kompany's not going to play that way in the prem though is he?" ....

Here’s where I think fans are wildly wrong, we are not playing the same system as last season, if we were id fancy us in games. We’re so disjointed at the minute, miles off the settled calm side we were last season.

So we are now thinking Brownhill should be marking Maddison when we have the ball ?
2 people to blame for that goal - if we need to find blame.
Al Dakhill for giving the ball away
VK for playing him at right back and out of position.

But very good players like Maddison find space - they anticipate mistakes and then pounce. They then have the quality to curl into the bottom corner from 20 yards.
Maddison also has the luxury of knowing that when we have the ball he does not have to mark any burnley player - he knows others will do that for him but he’s also gambling on us making mistakes on the ball. Which tbf on Saturday was not a big gamble was it ?!!

But whilst Maddison was bending it in, Brownhill was running towards the right back position. Not sure where Cullen was. This isn’t a dig at Brownhill, he’s just not a defensive midfielder like some think he’s gonna just sit and cover. Not his game

Brownhill is better as an attacking cm, but far better than Berge as a defensive cm. If we want a proper dcm than it’s Cork or I assume Massengo. I’d start Cork atm and replace him before he gets too tired.

Whatever we do we need to play 2 dcm and a back four, with 1 of Ramsey, Berge, Josh, JBG, or maybe Tresor as the attacking cm.

Firstly it was our right back who stupidly gave the ball away.
Without watching it again maybe Cullen was going towards the ball to show for it - as that’s what he does when we are in possession in our own half.
You are assuming that Brownhill should have been nearer Maddison - how do you know that was his job to pick him up ? I am pretty sure he wasn’t brought on as another defensive midfielder so why do you think he should be sat on the edge of our box when we are in possession of the ball ?

Where have I said that Brownhill should be sat on the edge of our box?

I’m saying that the gap between our midfield and attack in this transitions is crazy.

Brownhill or cullen (or whoever the hell was supposed to be playing in midfield) should not have left such an open space. Even if we have the ball I’ve never seen us (under VK) leave such large spaces in midfield

Cullen made a mistake and left Maddison unmarked for his goal

The ball from Trafford was poor but he was also under pressure so it would seem he maybe panicked

The team just collectively had a shocker but if people want to focus on singular players for agendas then so be it
