when you look at the speed and level in training it makes you realise even more just how good the top teams are, we comfortably smash 72 teams in England, Tresor looks rapid, Bastien looks very sharp too. Our levels are high.

Ramsey didn’t go join up with the Eng u21s then. Probably related to the (head?) injury he picked up at Forest. Worked out well really having the likes of Ramsey, Tresor and Massengo all here for the break.

Hope Delcroix gets a shot as a starter next to Beyer. They both seem to be the most comfortable on the ball and are picking up things easily. Delcroix already trained 3 years under VK so that's a huge advantage for him. He knows what to do and he anticipates to possible danger better than O'Shea and Al Dakhil. Let them fight out who's the third. Maybe at the moment O'Shea because Al Dakhil has been struggling last games. He could use some time off to then come back stronger.
What a great group of guys we have. I'm hopeful for the season, we will need a month or two to get going because it's that many new faces. Seen it at Anderlecht already it always takes a few months to get used to each other. It was always this situation with 3-4 loanees and out best young players leaving. We even had our best strikers leave after the season because they were loan players (Joveljic Nmecha Zirkzee Kouame)... So this is nothing new.
Also VK already had his share of criticism that he wasn't pragmatic enough. When he was still player/coach, his assistant Simon Davies got sacked and replaced by Vercauteren the Belgian equivalent of Sean Dyche. VK would still decide the line up and Franky Vercauteren would do the substitutions and lead the team during games. Making substitutions after 85 minutes and stuff like that. Bringing in a 6 for a 10.
So during summer preparation for the new season Kompany got injured and took up the role of leading the team during matches as well. Making Vercauteren bite his lip. Then after some weeks VK decided to take over and stop playing, pressured by the non executive chairman. The rest is history. After two good years of getting better as a coach, taking Anderlecht with financial troubles and an army of loanees, youth players, and cheap purchases from position 7 to 3 third and a cup final, he came to Burnley winning the championship with amazing football. Anderlecht finishing 11th last season. Worst ranking in 80+ years.

Let's hope they have devised a system that solves our full back issues. It is a massive problem for us, but I have every faith in VK and his team to get us looking more solid and organised at the back.

One solution I can see is utilising the most adept left sided winger we have and training them up sharpish to play left wing back and understand the defensive duties better.
