Luca Koleosho (at Championship level)

Post by jdrobbo » Mon Sep 11, 2023 8:42 pm

First of all, there has to be an acceptance that this is a player we’ve only seen a handful (if that) of times and of course, one so young.

However, my question is…

Had this been us at Championship level again, how do THINK that Koleosho would have faired as an attacking midfielder?

Are we looking at a player with raw talent, who would potentially have matches Zaroury or Benson?

It’s so fabulous to see him playing so freely at the very highest level but it’s also very difficult to ascertain where he might stand against poorer opposition that we already had a lot of success against last campaign.

Fingers crossed he’s allowed by the fans, to continue expressing himself and that when he dips for a period, which he inevitably will, that we give him that safe space needed to learn and develop further.

To me, he looks like he is full of potential and will be class if that potential is realised.

Would have probably suffered like Benson I think with getting kicked and targeted in Championship as he would have definitely troubled a lot of the fullbacks at that level just with his pace.

This level, pace is still a challenge but defenders have pace also and a better reading of the game so can reduce that effect in my opinion.

He can run with the ball - that will cause problems at every level.
He’s already done well, but it’s all about end product but he looks more than capable

From what I’ve seen when watching on tv/online he’s full of energy etc

He’d do well in the championship I think

He will get more space in the Prem. Even if it's filled with better defenders.

Really impressed with Luca seems a bit more resilient then Benny ,can’t believe the talent we have on the wings ,I’m sure clubs will be queuing up to buy some of the talent we have coming through.

This has been proven to be in accurate numerous times over the years by football analysts.

The premier league on average gives you least amount of time on the ball in pro football.

Back to the OP I think the lad would back north of 20. His pace and dribbling would destroy championship defences

Teams sat back on us for most of the season. He would have knowwhere to run in to.

looking at his start I reckon he would have 5 assists and 4 goals already had we played Boro, Sheff Weds and Swansea! Also, how on earth are PNE top of the championship ??? Second worse team I saw last season

Kinda this

- it’s a tough one really.

Bags of energy and pace to burn does Koleosho which would see him be able to get in behind and maybe drive into the area and make something happen.

May have struggled in a lot of our games last season when we were looking for something out of nothing to unlock a defence and rescue a point or all three. Them sort of Benson moments.

Great ball across for Foster’s goal against Spurs like.

Worth mentioning again he’s still hardly played any senior football and will be learning and growing with each passing day.

He left the Spurs defender for dead more than once, so with the room for his development he could be unplayable in a few years. VK said in Mission to Burnley that he wanted players who could press high and technical enough to play a match with 700 passes. The problem is that everyone is pressing high so teams keep long balling against us ;) .

What you usually see with players with that speed and skill level is a kind of attitude, primadonna selfishness. But not Koleosho... This guy is using his speed for the benefit of the team. He makes his defensive runs, works hard. At only 18 years old these are good signs. Because these are usually the kind of players that would let their man run in their back.

Surprised that he would be our best winger after 3 games. I bet no one saw that coming before we started. Especially him costing just 3 million made me think he's probably getting loaned out or play with the U21's.

I find it staggering that he'd only played 70 minutes of professional first team football prior to signing for us. Kudos to the scouting network we must have in place.

Is this young man the 100 million player VK alluded to recently? Or is it Foster?

Could be both :). It's unfortunate that we need to sell players so we don't get the pleasure of watching them for long. Foster will probably make more if he keeps scoring as goal scorers in the Premier are like gold dust. Koleosho is going to be some player though. According to the write up he moved to Europe at 15 and lived in a dorm with other players. To then move to another country at 18 and settle so quickly shows how determined he is to improve and get to the top.

VK said he wanted players who could press high so is he now the first name on the team sheet?

It's a delight. Proper Football Manager scouting job in real life.
