Hopes for tonight

I'm a born pessimist and never ever think we're going to win (yes, I'm a barrel of laughs at parties).
I always fear we'll lose and often dread a good hiding.
But...really don't know what tonight will bring. Oddly enough, I don't feel less optimistic than for the three home games.
We need to get to basics and concentrate on defence IMHO. I think we have several players who can hurt teams on the break.
I will be delighted with a point.

Forest have a very good home record and have started with 2 wins and get a top 7 spot if they win tonight. So a difficult task.
However they are one of the teams we would expect to be in a relegation battle so a defeat would be disappointing in that sense. I view this as the first real test of our hopes for this season.
I'm expecting a defeat because we still have a lot of work to do with our team especially the defensive side. My hope is we can somehow dig out a draw

We have been far too open and all too easily exploited, defensively.
As a minimum, I therefore want to see signs of progress on that front and evidence that some lessons have been learned.
I’m not expecting the finished article but I am expecting us to at least look more solid in and compact in midfield and and less vulnerable at the back.
I’d be delighted with a point.

Obviously want the 3 points but I feel that the performance is almost more important, yes I know they go hand in hand but I thought we were special, I thought we really had something and I want that feeling back, starting tonight.

They have a good side but not yet bedded in as a team and we have a chance. Reckon we will finish in a similar league position.

Be amazed if he hasn't spent two weeks tweaking the tactics and working on the defense. I know he said he wouldn't abandon his principles but I'm sure he realises adjustments need to be made.
Think its important to get that first point on the board so I'd be happy with a draw.

I don’t get that comment
Forrest have had a great start. 2 wins in there first 4 games and there striker is one of the most in form in the league.

Delcroix surprising everyone with a decent performance. Especially proving the Danish knobs wrong at Anderlecht who let him go as if he was garbage. He's a very talented young defender and I love to see him play. I always thought he would make a big €10-15m transfer to the PL after a good season.
So it would be nice to see him find his best level here at Burnley in the Premier League. He would probably get called up for the national team again. So would be a steal from Kompany getting him this cheap.
Also hope for a convincing game by Berge and Tresor. Also Trafford with his first clean sheet to calm down the criticism. Some defensive stability...
Also hope to see more from Amdouni who can still do alot better. And Benson and Zaroury too of course.

That's because you are too negative.
It was Cooper who said they aren't yet bedded in as a team.
I reckon we will both finish about 12th. Feels like a fairly non controversial opinion albeit one slightly on the positive side.

Well done for great positivity. The thread is titled "hopes" so non-positive people should give their head a wobble

A more stable performance and to be competitive with them over 90 mins.
The first game where we can't hide behind the "good teams" comments in my opinion. Forest are good but so are everyone else in the league, if we wave the white flag here then we might as well accept relegation now. This is a much better barometer of where we are at.
I'm going for 1-1 Foster.

The lessons and naivity from the last 2 league games have been learnt. So I hope we play 4231, and if Amdouni starts he has to be wide, to allow Berge to play as the attacking midfielder. With Josh next to Cullen. Either Taylor or Decrioux at left back. Al Dakhil needs to play cb because their cf is like xxxx off a shovel.

I'll be chuffed if we do something maverick and play a midfield which can do what a midfield needs to do.
Think it'll be 1-1 and I'll take that.

3-1 to The Clarets.

Its all about performance tonight. If we can compete against (teams like) Forest we have a chance of staying up. Settle for a point.

More result J for me. In patches against all 3 of our tonkings so far we have played well. An ugly point with a resolute defence would do me tonight.

Where our hopes fulfilled/ lessons learnt?
Most of my hopes were, particularly Taylor and Josh starting. Also, the use of Berge as attacking midfield and playing Roberts and Al Dakhil in their proper positions.
I was really impressed with Amdouni, but not sure what his position was.
We had too many men up the pitch again in the first 20 mins. A better side would have made us pay. Once that was corrected we never looked like losing and were threatening on the break.
