Taylor as centre back

Taylor back in which is good to see but I would’ve liked to have seen Muric between the sticks.
Come on, Burnley!

Great that Taylor and Brownhill are back, but I’d have really liked Muric too.
Let’s hope for a much more solid and compact performance with plenty of attacking threat to bring on.

Interesting eleven.
But nervous about that midfield but confident we will at least be a bit more solid defensively

Pretty sure back 4 will be Roberts AD Beyer Taylor

I’ve seen that line up and I’d be amazed if Taylor isn’t left back, with Roberts right back and Al-Dakhil and Beyer in the centre.

Got to be.
I’ll be questioning VK’s sanity if he manages to avoid that arrangement.

Sky and the app have Roberts at left back, Al dakhil at right back and Taylor at centre back. I really hope that this is wrong.

Still not convinced by that midfield.

Sky Sports and the Burnley FC app both showing AAD at RB, Roberts LB, and Taylor CB.
Nothing like playing your defenders in their natural position!
Hopefully turns out to be a master stroke from Vinnie

Trafford
Roberts Al-Dakhil Beyer Taylor
Brownhill Cullen Gudmundsson
Koleosho Amdouni Foster
I would guess (Foster to move in off the left as he did against City).

Taylor won’t be centre back. At least some common sense in the team selection, more experience combined with pace up front.

Burnley XI: Trafford; Roberts, Beyer, Al-Dakhil, Taylor; Cullen, Brownhill, JBG; Koleosho, Foster, Amdouni.

Really shocked to see Taylor in, but not displeased. Never thought we'd see it.
Statement game from Brownhill tonight please.

JBG will play on the right I reckon like he did against them in the cup. He’s a good robust option there. Then Zeki and Foster through the middle, Koleosho left.

When the team sheet is submitted I’m sure it doesn’t show the formation.
So don’t worry, everyone is going to play in their rightful position.

Depends where JBG and Amdouni play. If JBG is in the 10 position it's fine. If it's 442 we'll probably get overun again in midfield.

I actually think it's pointless playing Cullen with Trafford in goal.
Muric and Cullen made the rest of the team tick.
Cullen is a spare part wien playing as a "midfielder"

Think our bench is at least as strong as our starting Xi. Obviously plus 2 day Beyer and Cullen

I’d like to think that Taylor will be the left back, and Roberts the right back…. But with the utterly bizarre decision to place Roberts at left back recently, I wouldn’t be putting money on my thoughts being right.

That central midfield is so weak lacking any pace, strength and height - just don't get the inclusion of JBG if we are playing three across the middle and if he is playing wide it still doesn't look right - they will just overrun us
Amdouni and Koleosho have shown no tracking back qualities from the first three games
Hope I am wrong but fear this will be another defeat

Must admit I am a little surprised he is still opting for a midfield two.
Got to have faith he’s worked on this the last two weeks.
I also hope the back four is what we think. If AD is at RB I genuinely have to question VKs ability at this level

There’s just no way that VK would play 3 players out of position in that back four…
Is there?

Can’t see that at all. He played Taylor left back in the cup against them. I’m confident they’ll be in the ‘right’ positions tonight.

And so hasn’t made the bench? I’m sure we’ve signed other players whose names don’t immediately come to mind.

Tbf in the cup game, Taylor, Brownhill and JBG were up there with the best performers outfield. I think there’ll be a bit of fluidity with the midfield, in possession, Brownhill has energy to get all over the pitch, out of possession, he does all the dog work whilst Cullen and JBG tuck in and keep shape.
Best bench I’ve seen in a while too so if it’s not working there’s plenty of options.

Taylor had to come in simply because of those first 3 results. I wouldn't have minded if he stuck with it, but I hope Charlie shows it was the right decision.
Delighted Brownhill is in, but I would expect and hope, that he plays a deeper defensive role, and links the front and back.
The only problem we have with the front 4, is getting the ball to them often enough, hopefully Brownhill can do that.
