For your consideration
I have occasionally wondered what percentage of peanuts in a 415g bag of KP remain whole and how many split in two. I shall therefore be assessing the following and ask for your guesstimates in advance.

1) How many whole peanuts in this bag (W)
2) How many halves of a peanut in this bag (H)
3) Therefore how many peanuts in total in this bag (P). This would logically be P = W + 2H but you can enter a different estimate if you wish (including an unmatched half).
4) Therefore what percentage of peanuts remain whole within this one bag sample. Again this will logically be ( W / P) x 100 but you can enter a different estimate if you wish.

For each of the above there will be 5 points for a correct answer or 3 points for nearest guess.

Also just for fun (no points as subjective) if there are an odd number of peanut halves where might the missing half be.

I’ll tell you something now. I will go NUTS if we beat United I will just LOVE IT.

Guesses so far
Looking at some of the guesses I might not have explained the counting very well. I will be counting how many nuts have remained whole and how many half nut pieces there are. With the half nuts I am asking for an estimate of how many halves there are, not how many nuts that makes.

So, as an example, if there are 50 whole nuts and 60 half nut pieces then the result will be
50 whole nuts
60 half nut pieces
80 nuts in total (50 + 30)
62.5% of total nuts were whole (50/80 as a percentage)

Hope that makes sense and if anybody wants to change their estimates just let me know.

Also bear in mind that it doesn’t matter if the numbers don’t add up because one or more of the guesses may still be correct. Although a clean sweep of all points is only possible if all the numbers tally.

I think the rogue half a peanut hitched a ride on my dogs collar when I took him out this morning and hopped onto the Tesco delivery van which we had to squeeze past as it was delivering next door. It stayed with the Tesco van until it returned to Burnley Tesco where it hopped into the Burnley kit mans hold-all when he called into Costa coffee on his way to the turf. The half nut is currently secreted within Zeki Amdouni’s right boot where he will remain until the 7th minute of the game when he will hop onto the ball and ride it, screaming with delight, as Zeki unleashes a screamer into the top right corner of Man Ures net to put the Clarets one up.
