Plenty of pubs around the city that let away fans in on match day, wheres everyone planning on heading to?

Newcastle fan here;
There's 100+ within walking distance of the stadium.

Mile Castle is good for big groups
You could get a crawl going if you try Town Wall, The Forth, Tilleys, Rosies, obviously the Strawberry, (but you'd have to get there early).

Anyone needing restaurant recommendations let me know.

I reckon Newcastle must be one of the best away trips of the season in terms of pubs/eateries/welcome ahead of the game.

Tons to choose from, especially for the real ale crowd, but sadly not The Split Chimp it seems as sadly it's closed down and it was a definite crowd favourite.

The Split Chimp on Westgate Road? It's still open. There's one on the coast in Whitley Bay too.

The one down the slope from town towards the river, close to the Crown Possada (another favourite). We were drinking in Manchester the other day ahead of the Salford match and a mate showed a post from the Chimp saying "closed until further notice" due to rapidly rising overheads.

Ah ****, you're right. That's a kick in the clems and no mistake.

You could try Wobbly Duck, or Beer Street. Head of Steam is an old favourite too.

We are staying overnight so will be looking for somewhere to eat Saturday evening. Any recommendations gratefully received

I usually have a walk out down Quayside to the Free Trade- assuming it's still there.

The pub under the Tyne Bridge is worth a visit. It is literally under the bridge. I think it’s the Bridge Tavern.

We usually start off in the Beehive. some characters in there and cheap as chips

If you like Spanish food, El Torero, just off the Quayside is fantastic nosh. Paella, tapas, anything you could want.
Uno's Trattoria, also down the Quayside is good for an Italian.
Also down the Quayside is a hotel called Vermont, you can take the lift up to the roof top bar called 'Above', it's smart and has great views of the Tyne Bridge.
Take a walk along the Quayside and stop at many of the great pubs and bars in the area.
Lots of places to eat and drink in Newcastle, it's no surprise that it's the party city of the UK, a great night out.

Loads of options, Newcastle has really improved in the last 5-10 years on this front.

If you're after something special, House of Tides or Broad Chare have amazing food but are both on the pricier side, The Bridge Tavern is a little more relaxed but still very good. Khai Khai is my favourite curry place, and Chilli Padi is a banging Malaysian place.

Fat Hippo Underground is massive burgers and more casual and obviously you'll be wanting to visit one of the 250,000 Greggs outlets we have...

If you're staying closer to Ouseburn, you might want to try the Cook House?

If you're on the Gateshead side of the river try the box park down by the Tyne; HWKR food market is good and the By the River Brew Co has a good range of beers.

You'll get into the Black Garter. Might not get out, mind.

Found the Crown Posada along with several other Clarets. A great pub for ale drinkers. And a decent enough Thai place just down the hill from there for dinner. Very enjoyable weekend with the obvious exception of the result
