Zaroury

My only complaint is why has Anass completely fell out of favour? I was excited to see him progress and develop this season but now he’s seemingly even behind Ramsey, Bruun Larsen and Odobert?

4 assists in midweek wasn’t enough to earn him more than 5 minutes today when the game was gone? and when he came on he was central midfield.

From one of our stand out rising stars last season to 6th choice left winger in months?

I’d have him over Koleosho personally, whilst Luca looks great and quick, I don’t think Koleosho looks like scoring at all nor has he produced crosses like those Anass is capable of. I think Luca will develop into a top player but right now his end product is iffy

Got to come down to how highly the manager ranks both Zaroury and Benson?
From the looks of it, not as highly as we all first thought. There’s a reason we signed so many wingers and currently it seems to be because he didn’t think they could make the step up.

I must admit though, on current form I struggle to see who gets dropped for him to start? You have got to imagine Tresor starts at Left wing when up to match fitness etc…

Well it can't be because Vinnie doesn't rate them as the club have resigned them on new contracts.

Too many left wingers. Zaroury, Larsen, Tresor, Koleosho, Odobert, Ramsey (although is clearly better in the middle).

New 5 year deal as well this summer. Red card didn’t help but it’s all a bit bizarre.

Yes, it's a strange one.
Arguably the most skilful in the squad with the ball at his feet and running at the full back.

Then again, we've only seen him do that in the Championship, but if he doesn't get the chance to show what he can do at this level, we're never gonna know.
I'll go with VK though, he sees them all close up in training.

He played really well in midweek. Surely that tells us he wasn't prepped to play today.
I expect him to be starting soon.

I’m expecting him to come in on the left when Luca has a poor game. I didn’t see the game today so can’t comment on how he did.

From what we saw last season zaroury is a class act but Luca has had a flying start.

This tactic of bringing off both wingers may work in the championship not so sure it works in the prem. maybe that’s why they are stockpiled.

Luca played off the right today though. Ramsey was left

VK said in a press conference recently that standards have been raised and that's why Brownhill wasn't in the team, he had to win his place back, I suspect he has said the same to Zaroury etc

Zaroury doesn’t seem to even be first reserve for left wing though, he hasn’t played that position all season has he? Certainly started on the right when he came on at Forest.

How does he do that though when he’s not even being played wide left at all? He’s like 5th choice and being given little game time and even less left wing. 4 assists midweek and Ramsey, Odobert and JBL gets the nod ahead of him today? Gudmundsson and Tresor were ahead of him for the United game.

Part of the problem we are having is all the chopping and changing of positions and personnel. Can’t be good for the players to get into a rthymn. All a bit too experimental for me , maybe that should have been done in pre season.

Financially though, the club arnt going to let a player depreciate when they spent so much on him.

He’s going to play regularly if anything to try and protect the asset value

not sure mate, i'm just saying what VK said about Brownhill and assume he's applying the same rules. It's certainly strange but let's be honest, post World Cup Zaroury was nowhere near as good as pre-world cup Zaroury

But isn't this a big part of the problem caused by our recruitment this summer

We have too many wide men who can't all be played to protect/increase their asset value

Towards the end of last season Zaroury lost his way a little imo often drifting more inside that he used to. Koleosho is more direct and that’s why I think VK prefers him. I do wonder though if we should try starting with Zaroury and bring Koleosho on later in the game to go at them.

I don’t think it’s really chopping and changing. Other than the failed experiment of Roberts at left back due to Kompany not wanting to play Taylor (and I think Vitinho probably would have played if not injured), I think it’s more down to The management team thinking differently this year. Last year it was all about our players being better than the opposition players so we weren’t concerned about how the set up and their strengths - which is why we got hammered by Sheff U. This year we seem to be changing our team because of the opposition (case in point yesterday, Ramsey playing left wing to try help stop Trippier who is their main creator and Koleosho moving right to get at Burn who is really a centre half playing at left back and less likely to get forward). Maybe we have been overthinking because we don’t believe going toe to toe sees us coming out on top against the better teams.

Until I’ve seen otherwise, Zaroury and Benson are still our best wingers. I’d expect to see more of them both soon.

Koleosho has had a very good start, though and Odobert looks like a fine talent.

I don't think he needed to do much tackling we was that dominant.
I think half the problem with our start is the fact VK has just pushed the players from last season out and started players in there place that have proved to be no better yet, it upsets the mood of the squad.

Zaroury has got to start. I too am amazed that he started the season as a sub. The ban hasn't helped of course, but he was by far our most creative player all last season, even when he wasn't at his best, he occupied at least 2 defenders allowing space for others.
Although many on here gave him pelters for his crosses, they were actually into decent areas and it was our lack of men in the box or poor finishing which made them look bad

Maybe he’s looked at the opening fixtures and yes he has been banned but thought bring him back against the lesser teams in the next batch of fixtures then he is fresh.

So by that we are reacting to who we’re playing without having a solid way of playing that the team knows it seems.

Add into this the awful passing around the back and a keeper that lets in 2 goals a game with a powder puff centre midfield and we’re not going to achieve much this season.

What on earth has Tresor done to be your first choice on the left?, he's way off the pace at present and up to press offered nothing .......SO FAR!. Its no coincidence Koleosho gets a lot of glowing reports from neutrals/ ex pro's pundits etc for his efforts on the left, maybe that's why Vinny is sticking with him 🤔

Anass I believe along with Aro, Brownhill (to a letter extent seen as he’s involved now), and Manuel Benson can feel themselves rightly annoyed to be overlooked for players that I don’t feel are particularly any better than they are after doing so well for the team last season.

Got pelters when I suggested he should go on loan. For exactly this reason. We have lots of wingers in the squad and I'd suggest others maybe more suited. If Redmond's not getting a game it's hardly surprising. Would have helped his development more than sitting on the bench or not being involved.

It’s to lopsided

It was pretty obvious before a ball was kicked - adding Tresor only added to that.

Zaroury should be rightfully ****** off. Dropped through no fault of his own.

I’m cheesed tbh. Two footed young winger that has a good shot on him as well, barely getting a kick now for what?

He can’t get on the bench when Benson Gudmundsson and Redmond are injured, I don’t fancy his chances of being given much opportunity.

Maybe OTT because he’s my favourite player in this squad.
