Interesting thing about this if we took the top 10 that is arguably our strongest line up, just JBG and JBL in the same role and no right back so we would have to swap JBG for Roberts.
Maybe our fans do know something about football…….and why this has always been a good and meaningful feature of this site.

Just my opinion, but if it doesn’t contain Benson or Zaroury then it isn’t our strongest line up.

Which is why I used the word arguably.
But my point is that people could make that argument so statistically it is a strong method of rating players over a season, rarely does a winner come from left field (no pun intended).

Very interesting them - I agree it's probably bang on for the season so far.. Perhaps Foster .2 higher or so

Totally agree with this and your previous post, it’s a great feature of the site.
Although most of this board will probably say the (current) winner was from left-field given loads of people wrote him off.

And I think most fans would have expected that line up for the Chelsea game after the win at Luton

Interesting - do you have the average ratings for the 21/22 season for comparison, CT?
I'd argue these aren't too far wrong, JayRod one too harsh and Berge should probably be up near where Lyle is. Perhaps a few more for Koleosho/JBG/Vitinho

And there we see our problem. Our keeper and defence compares poorly with 21/22.

But we are playing against way better opposition at Premier League level
Not looked at all figures but I wouldn't think anyone has a higher rating this season than last

21/22 season man - aka the last time we were in the Premier League.
Unless you thought Pope, Collins and Mee played for us last year?

Last Premier League season and a relegation season too when our goalkeeper and defenders were up at the top.

Our defence was fine that year - just couldn’t put them in the onion bag.
This year?… Yeah poor at both ends of the field, sadly

I don’t think we will ever score a lot of goals at Premier League level. Looking back at the previous seasons, we’ve scored:
2009/10 - 42
2014/15 - 28
2016/17 - 39
2017/18 - 36
2018/19 - 45
2019/20 - 43
2020/21 - 33
2021/22 - 34
That means we have got to be good defensively and this is how many we’ve conceded in each season.
2009/10 - 82
2014/15 - 53
2016/17 - 55
2017/18 - 39
2018/19 - 68
2019/20 - 50
2020/21 - 55
2021/22 - 53

Some remarkable stats there- very surprised our top scoring season was the year after we made Europe, just imagine if we could have hit those figures in 17/18 we could have been on the cusp of the CL. Of course if you flip that around the other way we'd likely have gone down in 18/19.
Also very surprising we scored 1 more & conceded 2 less in the last relegation than in the year before.
Strong defence really is the foundation of a team in a relegation fight, those 09/10 figures are eye watering.

Right now we're on pace for 28.5 goals for and 95 against - just to give some context to what we've served up so far, basically a third way through the season.
