I've no problem with us having a new ref, they've got to start somewhere, but what a surprise that none of the 'big' clubs have to deal with them. Try them out on the smaller clubs, so nobody will bother if they make a cock up.

It's always like that Paul - I think if we looked back at all the current referees and their first Premier League game, it would be the smaller clubs.

Good to add another ref to RtR. Hope he has a great outing.

If they can’t assign new refs in a fair way then how on earth can we expect decisions to be done fairly. That is the main problem in a nutshell. Every premier league game should have the same chance of being refereed by a less experienced ref.

If you are premier league level then you are an elite official. Obviously there’s a point around the Merseyside derby but every game is worth 3 points to the winner and there really should be no difference if the official is premier league level. There’s also an argument that if they have always applied new refs to games with smaller teams involved they have a more direct impact on relegation at the end of the season which costs teams more than any other league in world football.

Random numbers out of a hat.....the only way that's fair.
