I mean given today’s performance it’s understandable why people are frustrated and you will always get the OTT reactions in either direction.
Apart from that agree with the post and it does seem it’s 3 from those 4.

Re: A mini league of four
Being in a mini league of 4 clubs, where just the winner of that league survives relegation is quite an underwhelming position to be in just 8 games into a season.

Re: A mini league of four
It would be mental to stay up with this squad on the basis of what we’ve seen so far this season - but the truth is we really can only get better. Next week is absolutely must not lose, and a win for either team is massive.
Re: A mini league of four
You can add Everton and Forest to the four.

Yeah but, wittle old Burnley can’t be expected to get anything but a 3-0 drubbing at the giants of Brentford

Re: A mini league of four
We only need to get results against the teams in our mini league of four and we'll be fine.
Re: A mini league of four
The thing is Bournemouth have more experience and Sheff U,& Luton have some big guys who will get the odd big result like we did with Sean Dyche ,this lot couldn’t out muscle an under 11’s girls team.

Don’t know about anyone else but the ‘Look who we’ve played’ line is irritating me and is irrelevant when you use your eyes and look at the performances.
We are absolutely bobbins and seem to be set on producing the same madness week after week.

Re: A mini league of four
After last season I was expecting a lot more than what we have currently shown. Still plenty of time to go but the amount of goals we are conceding and the lack of leadership and fight are concerning.
Re: A mini league of four
I think the goal keeper is worse than when we went down...the centre halfs worse ...the full backs are the same with one older and worse and the other not good enough for the prem ...the midfield is worse than last time...we have a few nice wingers and foster is trying is best but would not get in another prem team
We do have younger players which is better..but with the players we have at the moment 4th from bottom is the best we will get...I think luton and Sheffield will out muscle some teams so relegation is more likely than not because Bournemouth will throw a lot of money at it in January..
But we have some hope for the future which I think is more than I had when we went down last time

Re: A mini league of four
Win every game in that mini-league and it only gets us to 18points.
I've not seen much to give me confidence we will find the 20 or more additional points we'll need from outside that mini-league.

Foster Is easily good enough to play for any side outside of the top 7 or so.wbfc wrote: ↑Sat Oct 21, 2023 10:51 pmI think the goal keeper is worse than when we went down...the centre halfs worse ...the full backs are the same with one older and worse and the other not good enough for the prem ...the midfield is worse than last time...we have a few nice wingers and foster is trying is best but would not get in another prem team

Re: A mini league of four
It's pretty much looking like that 4 will be immersed in a mainstay fashion but I'd expect others to flirt around there albeit briefly. I think a nervy end to the season will play out with uncertainty.
Re: A mini league of four
Everton seem to be getting stronger especially if Calvert Lewin stays fit - they will bully us in the cup game
If Forest are struggling they will just spend another fortune in Jan
It is three from four for me and the worry is that whilst we may take points from them we don't look like we can take many points from any of the others especially away from home
CT described yesterday as finding it difficult to remember a worse Premier League performance that he has seen - sums it up
Re: A mini league of four
You can add Palace in there too.

We love being loyal to a manager but let’s be honest if VK was at any other club we would all be laughing and saying he will be getting sacked soon
Re: A mini league of four
You've been in 'sack him' mode for a while now - I keep seeing posts from you suggesting this - but fortunately others have more sense.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 22, 2023 8:17 amNot difficult to remember that was the worst premier league performance I have ever seen.

How about when newly promoted Leeds pumped us 4-0 at the Turf in 2022? We played walking football in that one.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 22, 2023 8:17 amNot difficult to remember that was the worst premier league performance I have ever seen.

Or we went into a must win game at an almost relegated Norwich later in the season and left with an abysmal performance and 2-0 defeat?
You also must not have watched us in the Coyle or Laws Prem days.
Yesterday was bad, first half especially, but second we played pretty well until their goal against the run of play (two stunning finishes I might add).

Re: A mini league of four
Not forgetting olise & eze due back at some point getting torn to shreds by Newcastle shouldn't determine any teams destiny they can & have & will do it to the best of them.
Re: A mini league of four
Certainly a sound observation. The second in particular he’s clearly got way too much space. The third seems just an incredible hit.

Re: A mini league of four
It's clearly 3 from 4 and there's not a chance all 4 teams hit 35 points.
We looked small, soft and timid against City yet many wanted to dismiss any fears because of the opposition without understanding that we would still look small, soft and timid in October.
We look fodder, everyone outside of Burnley can see it, and the pressure next week? WOW

Re: A mini league of four
Bournemouth will probably change manager imminently. It might work for them but it might not.
Palace, Forest, Everton, Wolves etc. are far stronger than ourselves, Luton and Sheffield United.

Re: A mini league of four
I wouldn’t eliminate the inside of burnley seeing it just some are in denial about how bad things have become or allowed to become without being too dramatical, the wrong sort of signings have been made in positions & other positions that needed bolstering have been neglected.getbennyon wrote: ↑Sun Oct 22, 2023 8:51 amIt's clearly 3 from 4 and there's not a chance all 4 teams hit 35 points.

Re: A mini league of four
While I get things are pretty shite at the moment, we arguably should have beat Forest at Forest a few weeks back so I don’t agree they’re far stronger. A lot of this is down to the manager.

You've hit the nail on the head. We are giving the opposition far too much space with terrible defending making these stunning goals quite easy. The amount of space they had for the two yesterday was so poor.

Re: A mini league of four
Again, I think we need a little breather. We outmuscled, if you want to call it that, one of those teams on their family patch a few weeks ago. Sheffield United have just equalled their own lowest points record at the start of the season so I don’t get how they’re being held up as a paragon of steeliness to replicate.

Re: A mini league of four
Blades conceded 8 in one match!
The end result is exactly the same. Nada points. We’ve shown we can beat Luton, we should’ve beat Forest. The tools are there, the manager needs to stop throwing his tactics board in the air and seeing where it lands.
Re: A mini league of four
You're right - we shouldn't be holding Sheff Utd up given they are bottom of the league, have lost five on the bounce and have conceded more goals than us which is some achievement given how poor we are defensively.Swizzlestick wrote: ↑Sun Oct 22, 2023 9:10 amAgain, I think we need a little breather.
