How many games would you give the manager?

Before a change is needed.

Last season was great but this season looks like an absolute car crash so far.

What do you think?

Deserves to be afforded what Dyche was in 14/15 and be able to bring us back up with the experience of what he got wrong this time. He’s more than earned that right after last season - the greatest I have ever witnessed as a Burnley fan with a double over Rovers and winning the title at Ewood.

We’re now seeing why Anderlecht’s board were happy to see him go and why he’s at Burnley. He’s young, naive, inexperienced and has a lot to learn before he’s ready for better than us. Let him learn with us.

Too early for that. If we get relegated so what. It’s not the end of the world.

Woah. Financially it could well be devastating.

I think we stick with him for now but he really does need to show that he’s learning from his mistakes - but unfortunately that doesn’t look to be the case.

I'd take not winning again all season if it meant we get to pi$$ the league with Vinny again next year.

It would be wrong to pull the trigger. He’ll learn a lot from this season and if we drop and he gets us back up then I’m convinced we’ll see a completely different approach that reaps the benefits.

As long as he needs to see the project out. The fact some are calling for his head it idiotic even by our fans standards

VK has a lot of crdit in the bank at the moment,he gets all season and beyond regardless of relegation or staying up. If we part ways then we really are up sh*t creek as a new bloke comes in and rips the script up and we will go on rinse and repeat for years. VK has spent a lot of brass and I cant see Alan Pace wanting to start the whole project off again with a new manager

I'm not convinced he would stay if we went down, but the answer from me is you keep him all season and see if he turns it around. He has built a squad that another manager wouldn't build and would find difficult to work with imo.

If relegation is disastrous for us, the question might be pertinent.

If relegation is a set back in terms of the longer term project, dismissing Kompany shouldn’t be a consideration.

what makes you think we would do that? Not a dig but a genuine question. I would imagine financially we would be in a real mess especially with over paying for so many players. I couldn't see Trafford as a championship keeper for a start and we would need to rebuild again.

According to Oddschecker VK still available at odds of 12/1 to be the next PL manager to leave his post.

I'd give him five games (until after Sheffield Utd on 2nd Dec) and if he's not within 3 points of safety I'd make the change.

I don't believe for a second it will come to that but if it does there's no point sticking with a failing manager because of what he did in the Championship.

We've been in this exact situation with Dyche and a few years after it we got in Europe. Not to say it'll happen again, but we have recent memory of why the word 'failing' might not be the best word to use here.

Before today I would have said Vinny has the season no problem.
But I don't think I've ever seen a side where the GK, DF, MF and attack are so poor.

Even bad sides can usually defend a bit or can keep the ball. Maybe look dangerous up front.

At the minute nothing is working.

Let's hope he can change things round though.

Wouldn’t sack him full stop, he’s learning, he mastered the championship and he would do it again.

We should ditch No Ney Never and adopt We Only Sing When We're Winning for our unofficial club anthem. Some of you have turned the most fair-weather fans around. Don't ever ******* criticise fans of other clubs for being glory supporters, because if you do, you'll embarrass yourselves.

Shocking recruitment and team selection. Any other manager would be out!!! However I think vinnie will realise what the problem is and will win championship next year and 2024/25 will be better

Do we have a thread like this each week then?

Who on earth do you think would replace VK and do a better job?

Not good with players out injured and trying to find a blend of the new talent. I don’t see a better alternative and in the meantime will get behind his efforts and those of the team.

Sure but by Dec 2nd we'll have played 14 games, at which point Dyche was level on points with 17th (and only 3 points from 13th).

If Vincent is in a similar situation too of course I'd keep him. But that's not guaranteed.

Personally I thought this international break would have been the perfect time to get rid and replace thim. With 3 winnable games and a very important 9 pts up for grabs I fear we have already probably thrown away any chance of us staying up this season.

The only point that matters is that we stuck with a manager through his first PL season and it wasn't the end of the world. We've got a good thing going with Kompany, and it'd be foolish to give that up.

I wouldn’t sack him but if the home losses and hammerings continue then it’s inevitable he’ll be under pressure. You can see in Mission to Burnley and the questions that were asked of him that he’ll be in trouble.

He seems delusional to me. The ‘tell’ was the fa cup quarter final last season. We played that game so open - what on earth did he think was going to happen? Why have 8000 fans travelled to see that? A total waste of time and money. It had the same theme in that we maybe do well for 20 mins but when the pattern of the game is established the tactical shape cannot withstand football at the highest level.

I hope they give him the whole season and next.

In any event, doesn’t he have some sort of stake in the club? Could be messy if we try and pot him.

I think Alan realised he gave Dyche about ten games too many, I don’t expect him to make that mistake again if the hammerings continue.

I think it depends how you go down. Under Dyche we gave it a good go, fought hard and went down with 33 points. If Kompany does that fine, I'd stick with him.

But if we end up 5, 6, 7 points adrift at Christmas and go down with 20 points then obviously we wouldn't "have a good thing going with Kompany".

We’ve still got a lot of good players just need a defence crowbarring into the rest.

Bit like Howe before Dyche , we need someone that can get something out of this defence although to be fair we are missing the first choice centre backs.

No strength in depth defence wise.

No I shouldn’t. He is delusional making the changes he has done from last season and playing this open tactically against premier league teams. We can do better than getting thrashed most games this season. Surely we could have done better than this.

I think the staff employed show the intention in a long-term project.
