How embarrassing naming 12

the problem is we could put Muric is goal, play really well, win and keep a clean sheet and I'd be pretty confident that Trafford would still start against Palace

It’s likely going to be something like
Muric
Vitinho, AD, Delcroix, Taylor
Cork, Cullen
Odobert, Berge, Tresor
Foster

EFL Cup switches to 12 aside for 4th round then for the final it goes to 13 aside and you can name two keepers.

Redmond and Larsen definitely need some game time, with a view to them both starting next Saturday.

We need to blend in a few players who have had no or little opportunity yet this season and start Muric, Cork, Larson, Redmond, Zarourry, . No merit in playing JBG, Rodriguez, Vitinho as we know they are not up to PL
Muric
O Shea AAD Delcroix Taylor
Brownhill Cork Berge
Larson Redmond Zarourry

Pointless exercise saying “changes for Everton”
Regardless of the recent performances/results there would be changes including starting Muric
The main change would be starting Trafford against Everton and then Muric on Saturday against Palace

Before the usual suspects critise Jay it's worth pointing out BBC sport had him mom in terms of effort.

Sub Roberts El Dakiel Zaroury Tressor Berge Trafford
So
Twelve to start on the pitch instead of the usual eleven
And only six subs instead of the usual nine
And it's Al Dakhil (not El Dakiel) - unless we've signed another winger I have missed

Did he even touch the ball before his injury time disallowed effort?

If he had only one touch and it resulted in a goal that would have been a plus.

Muric in goal
2 from Tresor Larsen and Redmond to start to get game time.
Massengo to see what he’s about preferably with Cullen and Berge to see what that looks like.
Wouldn’t risk Beyer or Ekdal if either are coming back to fitness. Egan Riley maybe ?

This is a tough one;
There’s an argument to be made that we need to see what we have in certain positions that we haven’t seen…
And there’s also an argument that we need to find our best XI and pronto.
We’re absolutely begging for a 4-2-3-1 and I would like to see what we have that can play defensive midfield.
CJ and Massengo? Why not - let’s see what we’ve got in there.
Deadly serious - can’t be worse than what we’ve seen in midfield this season.
No idea who’s fit at centre half.
—————---Muric
O’Shea-AAD-Delcroix-Vitinho
———-Massengo—CJ
Larsen——Brownhill(c)——Redmond
——————-Foster
Or continuity/find best XI
——————Muric
Roberts-O’Shea-Delcroix-Taylor
—————-Cullen-Cork(c)
Larsen———Berge———Redmond
——————Foster

A couple of West Ham players got booked today and the commentator said they were out for next weekends game despite them having a cup tie on Weds?
Team wise I’d go as near as possible to the team that is going to play Saturday. They clearly need more practice playing together.

Egan-Riley to become the new roberts hopefully if he has the talent ? Isn’t that where he played for city in the odd appearance and in loan at Hibs he played mostly right back.

In my opinion no point in playing the fringe players other than Muric who must start. The team that faces Palace needs much game time and playing together. Hopefully VK does not feel he has to give others a chance.
Muric
Egan Riley OShea Al Dakhill Taylor
Cork Brownhill
Redmond Berg Larsen
Foster

Time to rest Trafford;
Give Zaroury a second chance in front of the home fans in an area of the pitch he knows well;
Take out the physically frail players - Palace are a big battling side;
Play players you know what you are going to get - means leaving Amdouni out;
Push Brownhill more up the pitch;
Work a system allowing Berge to make runs from deep

It's time to rest everybody & find 11 corpses from some nearby mortuary you'll find more life if recent performances are anything to go by.

I think we go with the strongest team possible. We need to get confidence into the players, get gelling in this system but more importantly we seriously can't lose to another relegation team in a week. That would be devastating to all then through in it's the first time up against Dyche (more for the fans than the players).

Strongest team for me too, and less about winning this game and much more about being readier for Palace than we are, cos we aren't ready where we left off at 5pm on Saturday

It would be nice if we had a settled team for the next few games instead the 4 or 5 changes each game. And massively praying our first choice centre halves are finally fully fit along with Benson and Foster.

I would pick this for Everton, a free hit for some players, who knows, we may find a gem, and also bedding in what could be a strong team for Saturday. I’m assuming btw that Cullen is available but banned on Saturday. If Foster remains ill I’d play Jay but ideally he would be fit for 40 minutes at the end to pair with Amdouni who could also be a sub for Larsen.
Of that team only two are not fully proven to be very good at Championship level and they are full internationals for Belgium and Denmark. Others are also fully proven at Premier League level. So I am convinced we are capable of winning games, quite a few of them.

Indeed but Everton are predicted to finish 5th bottom and this was their team that played yesterday:
Jordan Pickford
Nathan Patterson
James Tarkowski
Jarrad Branthwaite
Vitaliy Mykolenko
Jack Harrison -
James Garner
Amadou Onana
Dwight McNeil
Abdoulaye Doucoure
Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Absolutely impossible to predict VKs line up , but I would go for the following line up.
Muric
Roberts O Shea Taylor Vitinho
Redmond Cork JBG
Amdouni Jay Berge
Pointless putting our wingers out there, no end result, no strength and offers nothing going back.

Very true but Everton have long since underperformed the sum of their parts, and of that list only Pickford, Onana, Doucoure, Calvert-Lewin and Tarkowski are significantly better than what we have, and I’m not convinced by Pickford or by C-L’s fitness.
Also, when we look at the squad’s of the other 3 rivals, I’m less convinced that theirs is better than ours. I could add Fulham and Forest to that. Everton have about the 10th highest value starting line up (transfrmarkt). Other sides have worse. We are 18th but not far behind a few other clubs.

Need to keep Foster in cotton wool for Saturday which is a big game , other than that your guess is as good as mine who will start tomorrow night .
