Can someone please explain to me why McNeil is getting grief? (Beyond some our fanbase being thick beyond comprehension?)

I'd hazard a guess it's mainly our younger element, same one's who think it's hilarious to sing racist songs about Obafemi having a massive ****.

It’s totally expected from hopefully a minority /. We got 20 million for him

Tarkowski not getting any treatment who ran his contract down and we received nothing although I would never boo him either .: it’s sad to see people booing a young lad .. embarrassed

I'd love someone to come on here and try and justify the booing.
Loud and clear on the stream. Totally moronic.

Tarkowski put in 100% every game , O’Neil didn’t, actions have consequences even in this PC world

I’d guess because he seemed to lack any effort or ability in his last 12 months with us. He was abysmal for much of that season.
Tarkowski on the other hand was the consummate pro until the end.

Absolutely no idea why he would get booed.
A very good player for us overall, the whole side struggled in our last premier league season and I think Dwight lost a bit of confidence.

Yes McNeil was terrible for us .. that’s why Everton chunked up 20 million for him .. he is being booed because fans are thick and if you think it’s because he didn’t give 100 % for us you need give your head a wobble

Criticising someone for not putting effort in is the laziest criticism possible - you can't prove it, yet it cannot be disproved either.

You can disprove it with stats on pressures, running, tackles, interceptions, etc but it will make no difference.
Generally one of those put forward by the body language "experts"

McNeil was one of the most chronic components of one for the most demoralising Burnley sides. Deserves booing.

Embarrassing booing that tonight. A few of us questioned some 17 year old clowns behind us and their response was "he left for the money!!!!" Indeed he did.... £20 mill to us.
Pathetic. Some of our younger fans are ace, really passionate and up for backing the lads, some are a complete embarrassment and would probs have been in nappies when we beat Sheff U at Wembley.
Fickle and pathetic.
