Referencing said Liverpool right back and going off on a tangent slightly, but are there any other players who are routinely called by their First name only by commentators and pundits ?Stockbrokerbelt wrote: ↑Wed Jan 31, 2024 10:27 amAll the negatives about Vitinho yet there is a right back playing for Liverpool who I would fancy skinning & cannot defend yet get rave reviews & plays for England. Good the "transfer" thread has turned into a slag of Vitinho thread.

You've actually just compared Vitinho to Alexander-Arnold?Stockbrokerbelt wrote: ↑Wed Jan 31, 2024 10:27 amAll the negatives about Vitinho yet there is a right back playing for Liverpool who I would fancy skinning & cannot defend yet get rave reviews & plays for England. Any word at all that we’ll sign /loan a player with decent prem experience?

It will be strange if we don’t make use of the last prem loan spot, surely there’s a player at a top half team who isn’t getting any minutes who can come and push for minutes for the last 16 games of the season

Jonny was available - jsut moved to PAOK Athens, may have chinned one of his teammates like but I think a player of that calibre/in that mould would do us a a world of good.

Exactly who’s and also players who are out of contract in 2025, need games to keep their value. Not saying these players are all a fit or good enough but they certainly need game time:CoolClaret wrote: ↑Wed Jan 31, 2024 3:21 pmYou'd have thought it, being Euros in the Summer as well.

Yep, one of the worst defensive full backs in the league, targeted as the weak link by all the top teams, not a scratch on Man City’s right backs, my point being full backs are used more as an attacking option in the modern game.

Re: January transfer window rumours.
I'm a damn sight more bored of people responding with pithy insults, ad hominems, appeals to authority or "witty" one liners because they don't like it if someone provides an argument longer than two sentences. But say anything back to criticise their way of debate and they'll report your post in a flash.quoonbeatz wrote: ↑Mon Jan 29, 2024 10:56 pmHave a day off. I think everyone is really bored of your 500 words of wah wah wah about pretty much everything you don't agree with.
There's no "endlessly doing down" of Benson from me. He was great for us last season, mainly as a sub, and he gave me one of the greatest moments I'll have in a football ground with his winner at Ewood.
I was replying to people seemingly mystified about why he's been 'frozen out'. If he has (and it doesn't look that way, given he's been in the squad lately) then there's bound to be a reason for it. I suspect it isn't anything to mystifying though. It looks more like manager and the coaches see the players every day and just haven't gone with him. He's also been unlucky with injuries and probably needs games more than anything.
Also very bored of people inventing crap without substantiation to try "explain" stuff, and shockingly the latest news suggests your explanation was indeed invented crap.

You literally said in the post I quoted that you were replying cause there must be a reason for his absence, that's what you put out. Now that you've been proven as full of nonsense it's just a whimsical musing. Literally playing semantics and name calling cause you don't want to admit to talking negative rubbish about a current player (who I'm very glad is apparently staying, and glad Kompany seemingly now wants to retain him). But keep up the insults really proves your own maturityquoonbeatz wrote: ↑Wed Jan 31, 2024 4:33 pmIt wasn't an explanation, you massive 5 year old, it was a whimsical musing.

Yes, I replied to because there must be a reason. I didn't say that was the reason.
I don't really do negative rubbish about any of our players. I don't know how long you've been about on here but I think most people would tell you I'm one of the most positive people there is about our players. Always have been.

Why post it then? What's the fanciful laugh in it?
It literally was negative rubbish and I don't care how long you or anyone has been on here, I'm sure you're plenty positive elsewhere but doesn't change the message that started this, just admit it was unfounded nonsense and move on it's not hard. I've no problem with anything else you've said until that, you're the only one making this about the poster.

Well for one, of course it was unfounded, I'm not involved with the team so how would I know? I don't think that needs spelling out. I'm not making anything about anything, you're the one who's gone off on one because someone dared to suggest a potentially valid reason as to why a player might have been leaving the club. I think you need to calm down and stop taking things so seriously.

Im perfectly calm, I just think it's tiresome and unhelpful for people to start inventing negative stuff about players being bellends or bad in training when they're our own players, no matter how whimsical they think they're being. Said as much my first post which you took exception to and started the insults but whatever, done with this now, going to focus more on tonight's game.quoonbeatz wrote: ↑Wed Jan 31, 2024 5:10 pmWell for one, of course it was unfounded, I'm not involved with the team so how would I know? Far too many ad hominems (even gaslighting at times) on here recently.
There's some overtly negative stuff (guilty of it this year myself), but a lot of toxic positivity as well, or even a bit of cognitive dissonance and lashing out because the fact that we're actually shite is hard to accept.

One throw out doesn’t make him rash in my opinion, same could be said for Trafford coming to claim for a ball in 93rd min when he had 3 centre defenders to defend the cross.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 31, 2024 5:19 pmThe game against spurs perfectly highlights how rash Muric is
Can find faults in every players game, if they didn’t have faults they wouldn’t be playing for Burnley
Re: January transfer window rumours.
Agree I don’t think he’s good enough for the PL but he’s definitely had some good games and works his absolute nut sack off for the team. I don’t think Taylor/Roberts are PL level either, so Vitinho isn’t the only one.

People should save the vitriol for the ones that don't give a ****- not the ones who are doing their best but ultimately might not be of the required standard. He was part of the team that took us up last year as well.

Agree. I came on a few days ago to try and read any transfer rumours and all you see is a few sad acts arguing with each other for what must be hours. To the point where there's even been another thread started to stick to the topic and yet some still can't contain themselves! Re: January transfer window rumours.
I broadly agree but maintain that at just gone 25 he still has a couple of years to improve yet. He'll never be a Brazil international but he's still capable of developing into a player at this level but probably needs to get a move on. His attacking movement and positioning/runs are exceptional he just lacks the end product, has the right ideas offensively does the hard part of getting the space and mucks up the easy part. Defensively he's not as good positionally but can tackle reasonably (but sometimes over commits). I can understand why Kompany picks him because he has the tools to turn a corner it's just not quite happening.

I think he could improve too, he's got age on his side and he hasn't got loads of games under his belt yet throughout his career, sometimes those players peak a little later as their development catches up.

I think it’s a valid point re: Roberts and Vitinho , though surely Vit is played to enhance his value ? ( little between him and roberts quality wise ) but Taylor ?
He’s been fantastic over the years for us in the prem and is an absolute nailed on starter every game . He’s very rarely lets us down ,and while he’s no Maldini ,and very one footed , he’s a very good technical left back . He’s also been reined in from his bombing down the wing .

I think he’s been a very good servant for us and was a dependable part of Dyches defence for a long while but in Dyches last season he was rotten and I don’t think he’s been that great this year.
Think we desperately needed two fullbacks with hindsight.
