13th in the Northern Premier League - West, league is topped by Clitheroe. Witton managed by Jon Macken.
Quite a dramatic fall for Lowton, less than a year ago he was in the Championship.

Re: Matt Lowton
Surprised he's not playing a higher level.
But it's a decent club he's gone to. Been there a few times watching my local lot, in years past.

Re: Matt Lowton
He trained with Birmingham in pre-season but wasn't offered anything and has trained recently with Stockport, again without winning a deal. Maybe at 34, his time is up but he did a terrific job for us having been brought in to replace Kieran Tripper.

Re: Matt Lowton
All of my exes loved him. Such a cheeky chappy.
Obviously a move that is more family related ( rather than the “I can’t believe how fast he’s fallen” merchants) and so I wish him well, for that

Re: Matt Lowton
Genuinely turned to my mate on Saturday and said we should get him in for 2 months, get his fitness up and sign on a short-term deal til the summer.
I suppose we could tempt Witton with a cheeky bid in January

Re: Matt Lowton
Very good for us, and pound for pound, for what he did, and how many games he played- excellent value for money. I got his Poppy shirt from the Brentford game, when he scored the header at the CFS. Best of luck Matt.

Stunning volley & a nostalgic memory of JR when he actually served any sort of purpose in this league.

The club we signed Peter Mellor from, and he went straight into a top division Burnley. Imagine that now.

Glad he's got the desire to keep playing, no matter the level. Too many hang their boots up to early.
Good luck Matt.

Re: Matt Lowton
Great lad and I’ll never forget that celebration v Boro when he picked up the kid in the lower JM stand after Keane equalised for us.
He loved playing for Burnley and was clearly a big character in the changing room.
He’s had a good career.
Played for England u21s and was tipped for big things when he signed for villa. Fell out of favour there and we definitely benefited from that as we got a very good player for very little money.
Key part of our success and I’d put him only behind Tripps as the best right back we have had in the last couple of decades.
The way Dyche and his team brought in our keepers and defenders for relative peanuts and developed them into quality players was incredible.

Top Top Lad.
He and Westwood were two of my favourite players at the time.
Knew an Aston Villa supporter living in Lincoln who said they were two polite and Top guys loved by Villa supporters and their fellow players.
Still see her and she always mentions them both with lots of affection

At 34 and loads of prem experience suprised he’s not nailed down a decent championship gig tbh . A decent right back and no mug with his close control either .

Re: Matt Lowton
Got to say, if he wants to continue, good luck to him. Shows he still loves the game and has already spent 10 months convincing a number of clubs he can still contribute. Better than Dale Stephens who did not seem to try too hard to find a club and retired

They weren’t both loved by Villa fans. They weren’t big on Lowts but they very definitely didn’t like Westwood. Their treatment of him led to his tough time before he moved to BurnleyDAVETHEVICAR wrote: ↑Wed Nov 08, 2023 2:24 pmTop Top Lad.

I remember when we signed Westwood. Villa fans on Twitter and the forums were glad to see the back of him.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Nov 09, 2023 11:59 amThey weren’t both loved by Villa fans. Re: Matt Lowton
They loathed him and Westy himself said it had such an effect on him and he was drinking too much - then he came to Burnley and it all worked for him until that horrible day for him at West Ham.claptrappers_union wrote: ↑Fri Nov 10, 2023 11:59 amI remember when we signed Westwood.
