Have to say we look a lot better without him in midfield.

Huge fan of his last season and him and Beyer were my players of the year.

But Berge is really coming into his own and Brownhill had a good game today too.

Not for me. We’ve looked better with Berge/Brownhill partnership.

Cullen would be ok in a 3. But if we’re sticking to the midfield two then it has to be Brownhill over Cullen.

I wonder if he would have been more effective in place of Amoudini? I still see him as a luxury

Cullen just slows everything down with his sideways and backwards passes
We have found a better midfield partnership
At least VK has recognised one weakness in our setup

Amoundini is a striker without Foster he needs to step up.Lots of ability and goals for Switzerland
He looks a class player

It would have been worse.

Fantastic last season when he had 5 yards around him whilst receiving the ball. He’s had someone practically stitched to his back so far this season and his lack of strength and physicality has unfortunately meant he’s been a passenger. Berge has got that physicality and also the ability to carry the ball forward and it’s an absolute no-brainer that he starts every game when fit.

The 3 players from last season that obviously needed replacing were Beyer, Roberts and Cullen, the rest of the team should have kept their places. This season has been back to front but we're getting closer and closer - granted Taylor and Jay Rod shouldn't be anywhere near the club.

Exactly the change I’d make. Amdouni is a real talent but we can’t afford him at present

I remember Sheff Utd saying that about Norwood, the difference being he had the range of passing and set pieces

Cullen replacing Amdouni ?
And leave an ageing JR up front on his own
The last two games have seen an improvement in midfield without Cullen
A positive that you want to turn back into a negative

Cullen won player of the year and players player of the year last season… what were you watching? He was outstanding.

Problem I have with him is that he never chases back, and opposing players literally just breeze past him without anything remotely resembling a challenge.

I'm not convinced we need that right now.

Cullen hasn't been finding space and/or shoeing for the this season like he did last. It's been like watching a different player.

Cullen is just not quite premier league ...I agree Beyer is not so either although the gap is smaller ....Ekdal is a Brian Reid or Glen Roder type player looks good when not been pushed defensively... but let's give him a go he is better than oshea

We are in a mess in terms of staying up...but from where we were in April 2022 we have replaced an old squad who were not good enough for the Prem with a young squad who are not good enough ...

With the goalkeeper I am not keen on Trafford or Muric why not give the Vigoreux guy a go ...May be he can can catch crosses ..which would be a start

Next 3 games need at least 5 points...but I think being realistic we will finish bottom

This post really made me laugh, keep them coming!

Brownhill was a very lucky lad yesterday when he got caught dwelling on the ball again in the 1st half and Arsenal should have scored. Brownhill always needs 3 or 4 touches when others need 1 or 2.
Scored with a scruffy strike which got a deflection, would have him sub at best.

Berge and Brownhill played well against Palace. A game in which I thought we were the better team except for conceding goals and not scoring them!!! Cullen will adapt to this league. He is a good player.

"except for conceding goals and not scoring them!!!" It's a minor irritation that them 2 things count.

After that performance Berge / Brownhill partnership should continue. We will need Cullen though, suspensions and injuries, he will get another chance and maybe a bit of time out of the team will help him.

Be great if he'd recognise the other.

I think Cullen struggles when his passing options are closed down (as has been happening this season). Berge has the other option of carrying the ball, and can shield it better, which opens up his options compared to Cullen.

It's a difficult one as Cullen was great for us last season, and may be again this season if the rest of the team can gel, but Berge looks the better option based on the last few games.

Cullen has struggled because of the omitance of muric who played the ball quickly to him,.

Not sure VK has recognised the weakness as some claim.

Cullen was suspended then we kept an unchanged team after a good performance. That’s all.

The only real weakness (in more than one position) is we lack power and athleticism and are getting bullied. In the last few games we have been bullied out of possession by Taylor, Beyer and nearly Brownhill, plus the keeper being bullied, costing us several goals. I thus agree with giving Josh a rest for a bit, good player though he is.

The annoyance is we knew this before game 1.
