Traffic in Burnleys horrendous today.
Just spent half an hour getting from the Prarie to the town centre.

It’s awful trying to get around Burnley at the moment.Had to do some errands this morning which should have taken 30/40 mins….2 bloody hours!
The culvert to turf is still one way then there’s the 3 way lights near Aldi on Tod rd.Furthur up Tod rd there’s bollards limiting it to just 1 lane out of town near the golf club entrance.
Gonna be fun tomorrow!

Coming out of the centre going up Westgate, there's a road works sign opposite the Nissan dealer then cones blocking off the near side lane up to the lights. Slowing down the traffic coming out of tow.

But no roadworks going on. Cross the lights again no roadworks going up to Gannow Top.
Absolutely unnecessary.

I can't believe that the footway work in Yorkshire Street can't be done whilst keeping 2 way traffic. Just needs a bit of thought and more flexibility about fencing signing.

The 3 way lights at the junction of Parliament St and Todmorden Rd are horrendous and we're scheduled to be finished yesterday (Thursday). At dinner time today they were still there with tailbacks up & down Tod Rd and traffic struggling to get out of Towneley. On top of that, no trains only replacement buses tomorrow.

Had a long running thread on here about roadworks. Since they started the work on the rose grove unity junction 4/5 years ago it’s been horrendous with lights popping up almost daily.

British building and road works are embarrassing, need heavy fines put into contracts, you can go days/weeks without anything being done, how is that good planning, winds me up

Good chance that my great grandfather is in that photo. He was foreman in the engineering dept of the Burnley Corporation Tramways.

It's absolutely awful. Getting across town takes an age. At least last time they restricted the right turn at the bottom of Omerod Road. They haven't done it this time, and given Yorkshire Street is closed towards town and Parliament Street has the 3 ways lights on the roundabout it has all equated in absolute mayhem.

It all looks like a huge failure in foresight and planning. The sooner they get this sorted, the better.

I don’t think it’s fake at all. The workers are doing the same as they do today. All persons, with the exception of the workers and Young chap caught by curiosity, are blurred showing they are in motion. Workers stood still talking and contemplating who’s turn is it for the shovel full or Burnley’s home form.

I wish to congratulate the b*****d supporter who authorises road work permits at LCC his ambition to totally gridlock Burnley is almost complete, the never ending culvert works together with the works at the todmorden road/ parliament st junction have today been joined by T lights at the mitre and the net result is an almost total inability to get anywhere in town. If I am doing the works planner a cruel disservice and they don’t support Blackburn I apologise it’s just that they are monumentally incompetent instead. Just what the towns already struggling retailers need a month before Christmas

This is our so-called Levelling Up - spent on something that didn't have to be changed, apart from the resurfacing work at the Tod Rd junction, and this should have been done years ago by LCC.

There was nothing wrong with the roundabout - it kept the traffic flowing. In fact, the trees were the only aesthetically pleasing thing in the area around the Keirby. Couldn't believe it when they were chopped down. Also, they were felled 12 months before the work started - disgraceful.

Burnley is in dire need of this kind of investment.

The town is hampered not only by bad architecture but also bad town planning.

The amount of traffic that is routed through the town is shocking. Burnley is a small town. The last thing it needs is traffic going through it. It needs to have traffic routed around it and for journeys into the town to be about the town itself being a worthy final destination. These journeys ought to be ideally either by foot, cycle or public transport.

It doesn't need dual carriage ways and it doesn't need any more roads. It needs good public transport going in and out of town (including cycle lanes) and it needs the traffic that is currently routed through the centre to be re-directed around the outskirts.

This work is a step in the right direction but it will only work if all the other aspects are put together.

I was diverted off Padiham bypass about 12ish today went down Barden lane and into town I could not believe the sheer volume of traffic with added roadworks causing sheer mayhem.I was 5 mins from home and it ended up taking me an hour there's absolute no chance I will be going into town for the foreseeable future

It's addressing one of the issues - making the town centre more pedestrian friendly.

But your point stands - it's not enough on its own. It's needs a LOT of money spending on it over a number of years co-ordinated to a coherent long term plan for the town.

The consequences of today's "accident" left me physically sick. A mixture of the A6068 and the low sun are a toxic mix......Be aware.

Sorry was not aware of any serious accident but I was just saying the state of affairs of the town centre traffic.I do a lot of motorway driving and have seen countless accidents in my time the most recent being the one on the M66 near Bury earlier this year and always think its better to beheld up than involved in a crash

No worries, Ptang.......Sometimes it helps to get things in perspective.

The A6068 can be absolutely lethal, particularly at a certain time of the day and the low lying sun.
