Do you watch them ? If so whats your favourites ? How would you fair on them ?
Had 2 weeks off work so been watching the new series of Deal or No Deal every day

Great game show but not so keen on Stephen Mullhern, Noel was class on that show.
The Chase is still probably the best and the one I’d like to most have a go on, usually get quite a lot right, I’m far from intelligent but have a great range of general knowledge, Although I’d be useless on something like Countdown as I’m terrible at Maths.
Also watched some of the new Family Fortunes with Gino Di Campo, prefer the old ones with Les Dennis.
Has anyone ever been on one or applied, or know anyone who’s been on ??

Known a few who have appeared on the chase. They all said was good but not what they expected.
Which is always the case with every show… I worked on Krypton Factor and a couple of other Granada shows in the late ninties and it sounds like then; lighting for the camera angles was key; not expensive sets.

Got annihilated by the Beast on the Chase ...
Been on 15 to 1 twice, 1st time in 1998 with William G Stewart got to last 5 before going out ... 2nd Time 2017 with Sandi Toksvig and won my heat but didn't get enough for Grand Final and a crack at £40k (But I do have a 15 to 1 Trphy

)
Great fun doing the Quiz Shows

Apart from re- runs of classic Bullseye, the only game-shows I watch these days are Pointless or The Chase.
Not been on any game-shows but 2 former work colleagues of mine were on Pointless and actually got through to the Final on their 2nd attempt (didn't win the jackpot though)
One of them also appeared on some game show called 'The Boss' and won the episode he was on.

I auditioned for The Weakest LInk at the Britannia Hotel in Manchester about 20 years ago. Didn't get on.
Then I auditioned for The Chase at the Castlefield Hotel in Manchester and was informed I had made it onto the producers final 1000. 600 get picked for a series run. I was one of the unlucky 400.
Considering trying again.

House of games is quite good, but I suspect I'll get bored of it soon like I do with all the others.
Other than that, anything with pace about it. Can't be doing with eggheads where people waste time explaining what the answer isn't, I prefer tough questions delivered with speed - like university challenge for example.

There’s a really good one called Tipping Point where the lucky contestants get to drop a counter into an arcade-style coin machine and usher the counter, with their mental and sometimes physical powers, to drop into the most lucrative zone, in the hope of winning literally hundreds of pounds.

We were talking about having a quiz in the office. One guy said it wouldn’t be fair if he brought along his wife. Turned out she’d won Mastermind.

Was Countdown every day, normally do quite well with the numbers. You pick up the tricks the more you play.
Do alright in the letters games as most words are common. I would struggle against the good players who have swallowed dictionaries though.

Went on Pointless with another Claret. Probably the most unpopular couple to be on it with me ex Inland Revenue and my mate an ex Council Tax Officer! Got to the head to head first episode and went out in second round on the next after I messed up on a pop music question. Great experience. Richard Osman was very welcoming. His mate not as much. Of the current crop we really enjoy The 1% club.

Sports quiz league in Nelson which we won as Mecca Bookmakers. Had a go at Radio Lancs Brain of Sport and got knocked out by Derek Hayes of Bolton. Derek won BBC Radio, Sports Brain of Britain the following year. Tried the one with Bob Monkhouse and won a glass paperweight but lost. Had a go at Pick Me with Stephen Mulhern and managed to win that one for a cash prize. Wanna try and get on Tipping Point, just have to submit a video. Went to watch Deal or No Deal a few times and Noel Edmonds was a supreme host of the game. I believe that Stephen Mulhern will also become a worthy successor to Noel.

Been on 2. One in the mid nineties on Sky called Spellbound hosted by Paul Coia. Got to the final and won £500. Was also on Wipeout on BBC when hosted by Bob Monkhouse in the late nineties. Got knocked out in the 2nd round. Monkhouse was a lovely bloke but was deaf as a post in one ear so they asked you to speak up all the time. Got to the last 50 on Big Break but just missed out

Some of the best game shows were on the Saturday night Lottery show on the bbc. Shame some of them weren’t picked up for airing after the Lottery show ended.
I’ve stopped watching the Chase,it is such a fix. The chaser ends up with half their questions having the answer built into the question and can answer a Q./second. Something the group can’t do as they wait for a name to be called out.
Enjoy Impossible, the Boss but both could be condensed into 30mins without all the filler. We record them and Ff through the chats.
House of Games is the best currently.

Applied for Impossible in 2019 ... got a phonecall to go for an audition, but as we were going to be away on a Cruise when the Auditions were taking place couldn't go. Was told I was on standby for the next series but that never materialised as BBC didn't take up the option for series 4 ...

I was lucky enough to get called out on the Price is Right with Joe Pasquale and won a Dolls house and an elephant plant pot, I then got knocked out when spinning the wheel to an elderly Geordie woman, FIX!
My favourite one now is the 1% club, I've even down loaded the App.

In the audience for the pilot of 1% club. My daughter won the audience one. Lee Mack was actually very funny.
Love Only Connect and I usually do well on the wall.
Like The Chase and Pointless, Mastermind, University Challenge. Don’t usually go out of my way to watch them - with the exception of Only Connect.
An ex colleague at work won The Weakest Link and 15 to 1.
If I ever did go on a show think it would be Mastermind.
I did apply for it and went to the audition. I was advised to choose a pretty niche specialist subject as it would be easier to research so I chose Kenny Loggins. I researched pretty much everything about him - all his albums, singles, chart positions in the UK and the States, birthplace, family details etc
When it came to the audition I completely froze - I’d forgotten all my login details
I’ll get mi coat !!!

Ben Shepherd has invented a whole new lexicon to describe how the counters are positioned. It's amazing stuff.

Going For Gold with Henry Kelly, that would be a classic to revive
Also when viewing Tipping Point close your eyes when the coin drops until that contestants turn is over and the audio sounds like a really bad porno movie

My niece was robbed on Countdown. Up against a guy that was on his last show if he won.
She was refused Firelogs, that would have won 8pts, he got the 7. Everybody in Ireland knows firelogs even if they don’t use them.
He was later awarded a word that wasn’t in the OED but was in the Australian equivalent and took the points, with her not scoring again.
She said she felt from walking out it was set up for him to go through and Nick ? in the chair was patronising her like she’d just climb out of the peat.
I played the game live and beat them both, very unusual for me. I’m good at the numbers but not so hot on words.
