Trafford -6. Only had two saves to make, decent saves but would have been poor to let in. Did nothing wrong.
Vitinho- 8. If he could add some end product he'd be special, couple good balls early that nobody could quite convert, constantly popping up in space skinning men and getting crosses away, shut their (poor) attack down. Really looks like he's just stuck on the cusp of that next level.
O'Shea -8. Physical, did nothing wrong at all, couple good passes.
Beyer- 7. Minus 1 for unnecessary booking but won the header well for Amdounis goal.
Taylor - 8. Beautiful assist, put another good cross in, good at both ends.
Brun Larsen-8. Got it all this lad and speeds up our play so much, we've been laboured so often this season but not him he wants to make stuff happen.
Brownhill-8. Great performance capped off by a rocket of a goal.
Berge- 8. Seemed a little rattled by the boos at first but then took control of the midfield as he's been doing lately.
Koleosho- 7. Not quite as electrifying as he can be but finally got a goal, noticed him also directing Jay and Amdouni where he wanted them a couple times confident for a youngster to do that.
Amdouni- 8. Deserved goal, superb play for the opener, he's a natural second striker and I'd love to see him alongside Lyle soon.
Jay-7. Brilliantly taken header, otherwise a bit quiet but linked up better again.
JBG- 7. Slowed us down markedly for about 6 minutes when he came on but then began to play his usual clever stuff and help ensure Vitinho and Redmond could keep gaining ground on the right.
Wasn't sure about Kompanys lineup or the Larsen sub but it worked out very well, we were blatantly being instructed to be more direct, play at pace and take more risks, and crucially to go for goal rather than faff as much. What a difference it made playing with some urgency, 20 minutes lull in the second half aside where we seemed to just want to run down the clock and briefly gave them a flurry, we were absolutely superb. God we needed a result like that.

Trafford 7 - Nothing to do for long periods but a couple of very good shot-stops. Footwork and passing all very good.
Vitinho 8 - Looks a different player over the last few weeks.
Beyer 8 - Outstanding. Did everything well.
O'Shea 8 - Looked the part. Positioning and defending was good. An assist, for what it is worth.
Taylor 9 - Excellent, today. Kept possession and his usual defensive self. A couple of exquisite passes.
Brownhill 9 - Busy and won the midfield battle alongside SB. An excellent goal.
Berge 9 - MOM - Ran the show.
Koleosho 9 - Close call for MOM. Really is a handful. Perhaps the best summer aquisition.
Brun Larsen 9 - Excellent and a good goal. Very dangerous and techinically briliiant.
Amdouni 8 - Played well and a bonus point for a beautifully taken goal across the keeper.
Rodriguez 8 - Very good against a poor and sluggish defense.
A really pleasing performance. So many players shook off their confidence issues. I think PH set them up poorly. They sat back and didn't press like other teams have for easy goals. It was great to see us look so solid and composed. Let's hope it isn't a rarity and we push on.

What a performance! Yes, they were unmitigated trash and (for me) the worst team we’ve ever faced at this level - but - we played some superb football. A joy to watch today.
Trafford 8 - Had one good save to make from Norwood and made it. Good short passing all game.
Vitinho 9 - His best game for us! He has his critics and is certainly a very raw player still but he’s in a rich vein of form at the moment. Linked well with JBL.
Beyer 8 - Little to do but very composed.
O’Shea 8 - Easily his best game for us. Dominant in the air and succeeded in winding the cretinous McBurnie up enough for a second elbow.
Taylor 8 - Good front and back and a fantastic delivery for the opener.
Berge 9 - Engine room running at full tilt. Mopped everything up and makes it look so simple.
Brownhill 9 - The usual energetic performance but moments of real quality and a great goal.
Bruun Larsen 9 - I thought he was outstanding and his goal was really brilliant technique to stay onside followed by a precision finish. He simply has to start.
Koleosho 8 - Excellent again with a superb workrate. Sometimes makes a bad decision but he keeps going non stop. Chuffed for him to get his goal.
Amdouni 9 MOM - Wow. Brilliant performance all ends up. What a touch he has and he’s really over the last two games started to stay constantly involved. He’s a menace and I was delighted to see him get a well earned goal.
Rodriguez 8 - Another great performance from Jay. Nobody can deny his effort, strength of running and wow, what a header that was. I said goal the second Taylor floated it over because you could see Jay had the run on. Brilliant finish.
Subs:
All contributed well for me, all 7.
We have been on the edge of doing this to someone but lack of confidence and a brittle age group has prevented it. That early goal set the tone and we were magnificent all game. Yes, Sheff Utd were terrible (and McBurnie made it even easier), but it was the manner of that today. I left with a massive smile on my face. More of this Burnley, come on.

Trafford - 7
Some good saves, did ok with distribution but nothing ground breaking - doesn’t break any lines with pace and accuracy.
Vitinho - 8
Bloody brilliant today. Really hope some of his detractors can appreciate him a little more now. Young for a fullback still and has that knack of being able to find space and be available for a pass.
O’Shea - 8
His best game for us and a great ball through for JBL.
Beyer - 7
Daft yellow card but did well.
R’Chaz - 8
Didn’t give any of their lads a sniff - won the ball back multiple times when they had a chance to break. Played really well.
Brownhill - 8
Great captains performance today. Great strike as well - can we stop with the nonsense that he isn’t good enough? Scored 3 goals already this season and we massively miss him when he’s not in the side.
Berge - 8
Really making that deeper spot his own now. Pleased for Sander, obviously todays result cements in his mind that he made the correct decision in the summer.
Koleosho - 8
Just getting better every game - very happy to see his short passing a lot sharper today. Less wasteful and still direct and threatening. We’ve got a talent here.
JBL - 8
Baffling that he hasn’t had more minutes tbh - was clear as day he had quality, two feet, passing range, turn of pace…. Can tell he’s been at some big clubs. Really well taken goal.
Amdouni - 9*
My MOM. A game where he truly showed his class. That goal is the hallmark of top player; reacted much quicker to Beyer’s header than anyone on the field by half a second or so - and that’s what the best players do, anticipate a chance and deliver a deadly finish.
Jay Rod - 8
Outstanding header and lead the line really well today. Been a bit of a scapegoat with his age recently but let’s not forget how well he did for us early last season before his injury. Of course he doesn’t have the pace he once had but if we get people up around him he can still be effective.
Subs - 7
All the subs played well and offered something today. Really happy to see Ekdal back on the field
Vincent Kompany - 9
Just what the doctor ordered, my only slight gripe is maybe not giving a youngster Odobert/Massengon a run out at 4-0 up.
Great result - UTC

Thank goodness for that.
Trafford- 7 - pretty much untested but swept up smartly and assuredly a couple of times when we got back passes wrong.
Vitinho - 6 - not entirely convincing but he stuck at it.
Taylor- 8 - terrific cross for the opener set the tone for a very effective afternoon.
O'Shea - 7 - super ball over the top for Brunn Larsen's goal and showed an impressive range of passing a few times, but he also played a couple of short passes to the right wing thst would have caused us a real problem against a decent team.
Beyer - 8 - snapped into tackles and looked much more like the player of last season.
Berge - 8 - would have benefitted from.a bit more dynamism again but ran the midfield.
Brownhill- 7 - an excellent foil for Berge and took his goal nicely. The discipline of a 442 means he sacrifices a bit of attacking threat but worked hard for the team.
Larsen- 8 - took his goal well and showed a terrific touch and plenty of intelligence.
Koleosho- 7 - lively and dynamic but his end product wasn't really there today, although it was good to see him get a goal under his belt once the game was done.
Amdouni- 7 - great finish for the third goal, did well for the opener to win a couple of 50/50s and did nicely to slip Koleosho in for the 4th goal. A good day's work, but before the third goal whilst there were a fee very nice touches he was a bit too peripheral.
Rodriguez- 8 - used all his experience to read the play before taking his opening goal brilliantly and that set us on our way. Was the focal point of our attacking play thereafter.
Gudmundsson- 7 - thought he added some incision in his cameo.
Redmond, Obafemi, Tresor- all added something.
A really important win and a good performance overall, albeit against as bad a team as you will see in the Premier League. This wasn't flawless- long periods of the first 70 minutes were a bit ponderous and not much happened, and in particular the lack of movement and tempo against 10 men in thr first half of the second half was frustrating, with Koleosho and Amdouni particularly guilty of waiting for the ball to find them rather than searching for it. But they both clearly needed goals, and the team needed the confidence of a convincing win, and in the end we got all 3. Once we had the third the confidence began to flow and we looked more like the team of last season.
Now to take the confidence and belief into two winnable away games.

Trafford 8 excellent with the ball, good save from Norwood in the first half and quality block in the second.
Vitinho 7 final ball lacking but had a solid game.
Beyer 8 played very well, solid defensively
O'Shea 7 his best performance by a distance
Taylor 8 Charlie doing Charlie things, great assist.
Brownhill 8 quiet game, but a good performance, dovetails with Berge and a great goal
Berge 8 last 3 or 4 games has been very good, today immense
Koleosho 8 glad he got a goal, his performance deserved it.
Brun Larsen 8 great composure on the ball throughout and a fine composed finish
Amdouni 9 plays in between the lines really well, always looks still turn and front a man up and dribbles really well. Instrumental in the first goal.
Rodriguez 7 great header and lead the line well
Gudmundsson 7 steady as ever.
Kompany rightly criticised last week, deserves credit this week. Mixed the game up went direct as well as a fast fast start. Playing Larsen from the start and showing his faith in Trafford stands him in good stead, trickier challenges lie ahead, enjoy the evening clarets.

Vitinho 7 if he could cross the ball he'd be a top player
O'Shea 7 great ball for Larsen but my God his distribution is dreadful
Beyer 8 best centre half at the club
Taylor 8 a Charlie Taylor like performance
Brun Larsen 8 super goal & a very clever player
Brownhill 8 works his socks off & took his goal so well
Berge 8 looks to have so much time
Koleosho 8 still raw but what a prospect
Rodriguez 8 Jay of old leading the line expertly
Amdouni 9 so skilful & quick. MOTM.

Trafford 8 - comfortable and composed. Excellent distribution today.
Vitinho 7 - played his part by doing the basics well enough but he must have had 12-15 opportunities in good attacking positions and didn’t find a teammate ONCE. His final ball is as bad as we’ve had from any player.
Taylor 8 - set the tone for his game with an excellent cross after a few seconds. Never beaten and played very well aerially.
Beyer 7 - composed on the ball and strong in the challenge today.
O’Shea 7 - strange game. Superb aerially in the first half in snuffing out McBurnie and getting him the red by dominating him. Passing at times was excellent and other times was dreadful. Easy to see why he’s rated at C’ship level.
JBL 7 - a really neat footballer who looks genuinely two footed. Good touch and awareness helped retain possession and I never thought he missing that chance.
Brownhill 8 - not as graceful as some but helped us to run that area of the pitch today. Always involved and great energy (and superb finish for his goal).
Berge 8 - he was levels above anything else on that pitch today. Strong, composed and progressive. Ran the midfield.
Amdouni 8 - another who was just too good for the opposition. Ball was stuck the him like glue at times. They couldn’t handle him and I thought something was going to happen every time he got the ball.
Rodriguez 7 - might not be quick but ran really hard today. Was definitely fighting for the shirt and showed great passion and leadership as well as having a good game in general.
JBG 7 - played his part when he came on with some excellent interplay with Berge/Vitinho.
All other subs did well but special mention to Nathan Redmond who showed he was another with too much quality and experience for the opposition. Superb little cameo. Hopefully he starts to be used a lot more going forward.

Essentially a game between two clubs far too good for the Championship, but not up to PL standard (atm) and we were so much better it was almost embarrassing. Ultimately I'm slightly disappointed with the sending off as neutrals will think it was a huge influence on the outcome and actually it wasn't. We'd have won 5-0 however many players they had. Because we were MILES better than them. I don't feel like it's a defining point in our season as I still think we'll struggle to take points off pretty much every other team and will probs go down, but I'm certainly enjoying the moment here in the pub and I'm already several beers deep. I'm off to Wolverhampton on Tuesday and fully expect a reality check, but hopefully the beer will make it worth while.

Trafford 7 - Quicker distribution and decisive at corners.
Vitinho 7 - Would have been 8 if he could cross better.
O'Shea 9 - His best game by far, won everything.
Beyer 8 - Solid performance
Taylor 8 - Got up and down very well and defnded solidly.
Bruun Larsen 8 - Excellent takedown for his goal
Brownhill 8 - Another having a really good game AND he gets us 100%
Berge 9* - He has got better week on week and ran the game today.
Koleosho 8 - A bit calmer in the box and he will score more often
Amdouni 8 - Took the defence on at every opportunity with skill and flair.
Rodriguez 8 - Ran his socks off today and got us rolling with an excellent header.
Guðmundsson 7 - Kept the momentum going on the right when he came on.
Mention for the non qualifying subs as they all came on and fit into the game seamlessly.
Okay it was against another team struggling but it was a measure of how we should be viewing our progress. Another performance to build on as we ARE getting better week on week.

Agreed, thought he was excellent. Really looking the part recently
Certainly a really good outlet and works really hard. I just feel like he could be so much better with the ball.
But he had a good game overall no doubt.

Yep me- I thought that whilst he saw plenty of the ball, his end product going forwards was hit and miss and that in the first half he was the player against which any joy Sheffield United had came. But clearly a minority view which is of course fine!

I gave him a 7 but 100% agree with your view. He didn’t find a teammate with a cross once which was criminal for the number of times he got into great positions. We desperately need better to make opportunities count against better opposition.
