70/0 off 7 overs. Salt and Jacks playing like a 20/20 game.

I'm not sure how Livingstone has managed to blag his way into that team.

Re: West Indies v England
I agree totally. He's a utility player though and perfectly exemplifies modern one day cricket. He's not fantastic at any discipline, and wouldn't get selected outright but as he can bat, bowl a bit and is a decent fielder he gets the nod..plus he's a b*****d fan so that makes it worse..TheFamilyCat wrote: ↑Sun Dec 03, 2023 3:28 pmI'm not sure how Livingstone has managed to blag his way into that team.

Re: West Indies v England
He is battling better than Buttler at the moment
An excellent fielder and will probably get through a few useful overs.
The West Indies team is full of unknowns as the politics over there means several top players are not selected
England should win all 3

Re: West Indies v England
I'd forgotten this series was imminent. When, early afternoon, I looked at what was on TV and saw live cricket, I assumed it was India v Aus until I looked more closely.
Good start by England anyway but Butler and Livingstone getting only 20 between them in 32 balls was v disappointing. Curran and Carse have done a good job here though getting us past 300 with 2+ overs left.
See how our bowlers shape up after the break.

Re: West Indies v England
Curran and Carse did well with the bat, however, their main job is to bowl well ---they were nowhere near good enough and bowled too short and too wide and undid all the good work of Atkinson, Livingstone and Ahmed.LeadBelly wrote: ↑Sun Dec 03, 2023 5:00 pmI'd forgotten this series was imminent. Re: West Indies v England
Aye, far to many bad balls there.
What's happened to Sam Curran though? He used to be a decent "death" bowler but that 49th over was just awful. It is difficult bowling when there an established batsmen in excellent form but that was dire. Fair play to Shai Hope there though- a real captain's innings.

Re: West Indies v England
Sam started having problems during the World Cup and went for quite a lot of runs in some of those matches. I can only think that his confidence is very low because he just didn't seem to be able to perform as he used to. It was certainly a headache for Josh Buttler when it got to the closing overs.LeadBelly wrote: ↑Sun Dec 03, 2023 9:22 pmAye, far to many bad balls there.

Shai Hope was superb.

He's got the cricket ability, but he just hasn't got a cricket brain.
He's a more than useful white ball bowler, in an era where bowling crap is a tactic.

About sums him up - how anyone can describe him as a great all round cricketer having seen him bat is beyond believe and I've seen him lose many a game for Lancs with his bowling.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Thu Dec 07, 2023 11:22 amHe's got the cricket ability, but he just hasn't got a cricket brain.
