Could Villa do a Leicester ??

Villa Park is a fortress, 14 straight home wins.
They just battered the treble winner Man City. Villa had 22 shots to City’s 2

nobody ever does that to City.
They have Arsenal at home Saturday if they win they would be just 1 point behind the current league leaders.
They have a world class coach and very good set of players.
Be some story if they could pull it off. Currently 50/1.

Thought 4-4-2 (and it's varients) is dinosaur football?!
Emery and the backroom at Villa are doing a fantastic job.. Really hope they do it.

Villa looked the real deal when they beat us a few months ago. I said back then that I wouldn’t be surprised to see them land in the top 4.

Only since he has arrived at Villa that I’ve really rated the manager. Obviously a very good fit with the club, and I would now be unsurprised if they challenged hard for a Champions League spot.

and I'll add, Villa have made some unreal signings for zero transfer fee, I think 2 or 3 of their starting 11 were free's at the end of contracts and all would bring in 60+ if sold now

Half a team? They had Rodri and Doku missing, Grealish is mainly a sub and De Bruyne hasn't played the majority of the season.
City's team still cost double at least what Villa's did.
Stop moving the goalposts.

Emery is my favourite manager. Loved the football his sides play since I first came across him at Valencia.
I’d rather Villa won it than Arteta, Klippety or Pep.

Losing KDB has never really affected them, he's missed chunks of every title winning season and only lasted 30 minutes in the champions league final.
Rodri is a huge blow to them though

Agree with both of these points, City won't miss KDB when he leaves due to him missing so regularly. Rodri is huge for them, I thought he should have been the Ballon d'or winner last season apart from the lazy voters who st write the name Messi without putting much thought into things.

Good enough to win against anyone on their day
Possibly not constent enough to win the league
But might cash in if the other teams are also inconsistent, as Leicester did

They have team commitment that's for sure.
Tears after we stop them in their tracks. Will have to see how they bounce back thereafter.

I've not checked properly mate, how many of the Villa starting 11 were free's ? I know at least 2 both of which if sold would be worth 60 + each. So even by the numbers you've worked out (nice one for that btw) it's not a huge gap, 2 players by City standards. Anyway, Villa were excellent and Emery is a top manager - honestly I'd find it hilarious if Villa won the league over Arsenal after the way the Arsenal fans treated Emery.

I'd love Villa to win the title, it'd be different to the norm.
It's still over £200 million which is a smaller gap between our team and anybody bottom half so no reason why we shouldn't be competing, god we beat City through a George Boyd goal before

with the talent in our squad I honestly feel we should be causing a few upsets

Really? Wouldn't it be more sensible to let the season finish first & then assess bearing in mind we aren't even halfway through yet.

I'm not sure you can compare Villa with Leicester.
Leicester's title was so out of the blue it was hard to take in. Just a few games from the end of the previous season they looked certainties to be relegated and then won the league in what was a season of transition at a lot of the big clubs. Spurs should still have won the title that year but blew it and didn't even finish second.
Villa were doing well last season once Emery had taken over and were expected to do well this season, albeit not this well. I doubt they can win the league this season but a top four place is definitely on for them. They look a hell of a good side and they were outstanding last night.

Currently Aston Villa have been very fortunate with injuries and have almost a full squad to select from unlike Tottenham, Newcastle and to a lesser extent Manchester City. One key player missing for City was Rodri (suspension) and somebody quoted some stats earlier this week that their win percentage drops off quite alarmingly when Rodri is not playing. Nonetheless it was an excellent performance by Villa and the match against Arsenal will tell us more.

I hope they do. I don’t have any particular liking for Villa but any team that can keep Man City, Liverpool or Arsenal away from winning the Premier League will be good for football.

Their opening day battering to Newcastle must have really fired them up. They looked great against us and have gone from strength to strength.
Invested very well and picked up some class free transfers/cheap deals. Still surprises me every time I see John McGinn line up for them, £2.5m, as an outsider he looks nothing special, but the team and system complement him perfectly.
I hope they keep it up and finish top 4.
