JBG* Brownhill Berge Redmond
-------------Odobert
------------Rodriguez

I'd like the extra height and presence in the backline to help us defend set pieces, hence Beyer at full back (where he's played loads in the past I believe).

I also gather Odobert played as a 10 quite a lot in France. I don't think Amdouni has been pulling his weight so would replace with Redmond anyway, but Odobert didn't defend the back post well enough for me last week so playing Redmond in his best position off the left should offer slightly more discipline (especially with Vitinho occasionally suspect) whilst freeing Odobert up offensively.

*JBG easily swappable with Brunn Larsen.

Muric should have been in after the international break but he was ill and missed his chance.
It would be harsh to drop Trafford after a decent performance for his confidence.
Even though his poor distribution was a big part in Brighton just attacking us wave after wave.

Hopefully they have worked with him this week on it, about which areas we might win headers in.

I think O Shea was often used as right back at WBA. Failing that Roberts in and Ekdal out as VK seems to be loyal to O Shea.I think Redmond deserves a chance and will offer more than JBG who is too far off the pace for this Division

Agreed, along with who is marking Tarks at set pieces, which is why Ekdal needs to start.

It surely has to be Beyer and Ekdal in our starting defence. I still can't believe people favouring O'Shea above these two.

Tarkowski is destined to score even though he missed quite a few sitters for us from set pieces

It's more than that. He sets up others from set pieces. We need someone who can compete with him aerially and imo its only Ekdal.

We could do a sweep on which minute Everton get a corner, we load the near post with defenders and Tarkowski peels off to the far post for a free header

Don't think ekdal is quite good enough or match fit enough yet, only other option is Trafford and hope for a foul, I was never tarkowski's biggest fan but he's good enough to bag a couple from set pieces and corners given we're not the biggest side 🤞 I'm wrong. Hopefully it could be the game that Trafford learns how to claim the ball in the air.

Everton play a 4-4-1-1 so I'd push Beyer up into the hole behind the midfield to track Doucoure. Bring in Redmond on the right with Odobert on the left. Maintain the double pivot and keep Jay Rod up front as the out ball.

To be honest looking at it - I'm not impressed but then again with so many players out injured it all looks a bit threadbare.

Hannes Piterson Delcroix (born 28 February 1999) is a professional footballer who plays as a centre-back or left-back for Premier League club Burnley. Born in Haiti, he represents the Belgium national team.

I'd like to see more of Trésor and Obafemi. Benson Redmond and Zaroury too. Delcroix should get a shot or let him go in the transfer window.

However last game we played very well so I would change as little as possible. JBG brings stability and experience even though he's not fast or skilled enough to be a winger at this level.

But let Tresor and Obafemi come in a bit sooner please. I feel they could add alot of quality to this team. They should start ahead of jay and JBG within some time.

What surprises me is how O’Shea is doing in the stats, aerial duels he is leading the stats for the “non big 6” and he is also good at long ball stats and number of times dribbled past. I didn’t expect to see that.

Delcroix because I hate out of position players and that is the least out of position though he is a CB.

JBG because he knows Dwight inside and out.

Beyer is living on last seasons plaudits a bit for me and seems to have escaped a lot of criticism from some performances this year.

O'Shea rightly criticised to start the season but in fairness was partnering AAD who sadly has been miles off it.

I think O'Shea has really grown into his position and is one of the only defenders offering some sort of leadership quality and looks decent against crosses/set pieces.

For me the best our defense has operated was against Wolves, which incidentally did have O'Shea and Ekdal together and yes - O'Shea did make a mistake (along with Berge) to gift them a goal but that aside it is the most comfortable our defence has looked all season.

Against Brighton though Beyer performed well against Ferguson in the first half he faded in the second and I still believe is poor at defending set pieces.

Against Everton we need our two best defenders of set pieces playing/our two most physical CBs playing and for me that is O'Shea and Ekdal.

O'Shea is becoming more and more dominant in the air. This is also something Kompany is always working on. High pressure up front causing the opponent yo play a long ball and then win those aerial battles. O'Shea is made for that. On the ball he's also improving with some great long distance passes.

He's a great hard working intelligent lad, perfect for VK to mold into a decent defender.

I agree on that... Except for maybe one game I've been mostly disappointed with Beyer. Doesn't really impress on or off the ball. He looks like he's struggling. Ekdal gave a good impression, very good on the ball.

I suspect that will be the team (ish) and I could be wrong but that team is classic to play to Everton's strengths.

We've got a midfield four against Onana, Garner, Harrison, Mc Neil and Doucoure.

And Amdouni and Jay Rod against a side that is quite happy to sit in banks of four in their own half and break quickly on either side with Harrison, Mc Neil, Doucoure and Calvert- Lewin.

With Cullen, Kolosheo and Foster we could try to outplay Everton with a Brownhill/Cullen double Pivot and Berge pushing on with Foster and Kolosheo but I don't think we have a squad capable of playing as we have against a team that has a midfield currently scoring for fun and a deep lying number 10 scoring every three games.

I think a Plan B could be useful today....!
