Anybody recommend this curry place in Padiham?
Bit reluctant to go, with the recent 2 star hygiene rating, but heard the currys are still good
Do they sell beer?

Thanks

A 2 star hygiene rating is p*** poor! A 5 star is relatively easy to get. I suggest you buy a bucket to vomit in if you take the plunge

Agreed. A 2 star is about as bad as you can get - 1 star usually just means the restaurant hasn’t got any of the paperwork.

Haven’t seen their recent rating.

Never eaten in, but had many takeaways- always excellent. Most recent, this weekend just gone.

2nd best to Taste of India in Barrowford IMO.

2 stars for hygiene?

How much of a warning do you actually need???

Has anyone eaten dog sh!t before? I heard it tastes good but I’m a little put off by some of the hygiene warnings.

I mean take your chance if you want to, the food may well be really good, I haven’t been.

I’ve been involved with hygiene ratings for many years both through local authorities and third party auditors and, as mentioned above, a 2* rating is pretty p*ss poor and there needs to be quite a lot wrong for this to happen, I’d say that’s probably beyond “them walking in on a bad day” so I guess tread carefully.

Having said that my favourite takeaway got a shocker a while back, and even with everything I know I still ordered haha :D all tastes the same after a few pints!

The rating has little bearing, if any, on the flavour of the curry.

Does it affect the taste if the kitchen is dirty or the staff have poor hygiene practices? Probably not

My personal minimum rating is 4, but each to their own.

If there's no rating displayed with pride then smell a rat, which may well be apt 😉

I’ve had a few curries from here before, really good, but I won’t be going again unless they get a 5 star hygiene rating.

It’s really not that difficult to attain a 5 star rating.

Always gets good ratings off people who have been.

Apart from your inspector.

Wasn't curry invented to overpower the taste of meat that was going off anyway? Sounds far worse than a 2 star rating.

My mentally handicapped brother used top eat dog **** in his youth. It didn't do him any harm. Lived to a good age.

4 is mine too. In the UK, 84% of food premises score a 4 or 5. I'm aware of the standard required for a food and hygiene rating of 4 or 5. A score of 2 can be some pretty grim stuff.

I have it on good authority that they've been shut since the rating inspection for a number of weeks to bring the place up to 5 star standards

I love the Aroma for a eat in, but don’t like the takeaways from there, for takeaways we use Baksh’s at Brierfield

if the business they,re in is serving food to the public, and they cant even deliver hygiene then there is no excuse. not difficult to know what is required to maintain standards. Quite shocking really.

There should only be 1 type of rating, clean. If it isn’t then they should not be able to do business

No dine-in option though. Take out only.

I would make it law to have their current food & hygiene inspection rating displayed on the door/window. Big fines for none-compliance - with fines going towards the cost of enforcement. After all, restaurants and takeaways can't wait to get their four or five-star rating on the door or on their takeaway menus, yet you'll never see a one or two star on displayed, and for good reason.

Make this law, and some of these 1-2 star Petri Dish establishments will either buck their ideas up, or go out of business.

Food was absolutely superb. Place was neat and tidy, packed too
Only thing that ****** me off is at the end, they wanted CASH ONLY - no signs to show this anywhere prior
Had to drive back to TEXACO to get cash as both Tesco and One Stop were both out of order
