Why would you not?
Do you sit in your season ticket seat at home games?

I know it seems like a bizarre situation, but folk really do tend to ignore what it says on their ticket when they go away, far less so than home games.
Yes, btw

Yes....but sometimes have to move someone who thinks it's ok to sit in someone's seat just so that they can stand with their mates

There was no sitting in the Clock stand at the Arsenal game....everyone stood for the full ninety.
I thought that was a thing of the past.
Felt sorry for a few small kids a couple of rows behind.

I do, it's annoying though when you get to your seat and some brain dead decide they are sitting there.

Yes.
It's rude and moronic not to.

I ask because I saw a video of a couple of Utd fans on Twitter getting help from a steward to their seats at West Ham. The tweet suggests that they say to him, ‘They are in our seats.’

The comments suggest that in away games, you sit where you want, and if you want a seat - get in early.
I'm not sure why someone would post this on social media, by the way. It seems going to the football with your mum is embarrassing enough.

If you don’t you’re a bellend tbh, it’s not the old third and fourth division - just makes it hard work for others.

It's not a big problem if there's only one or two of you, but if there's a group of you, you want to stay together.
The stewards are no help though, if you want someone shifting.

Yes except if I am in a split group and it becomes obvious that there are empty seats. Will wait till half time and move to empty seats then

Exactly. Yes.
Not doing so could stop friends / families being able to sit next to each other

We've had no issues this season, gone to our allocated seats and stood there, other than Luton of course which is unreserved seating.
I don't think I've had the option of sitting at all though this season.

I have more or less given up going away, which I have been doing for 54 years, as my damaged leg can't stand for all that time. Pity.

Not good if you need to sit. Have you tried choosing a seat on the front row from the seating plan?

I’ll be honest, no..
I’d prefer to but 9 times out of 10, there’s someone sat there so I just find a space
It’s a ball ache when I’ve got the young daughter but if I’ve had a beer I don’t fuss.
It does **** me off though

There's nothing embarrassing about going to football with your Mum. Have I misunderstood the comment?

Who wants to sit on the front row?
Need a bit of perspective. Also others to sing/chant with.

I was confused too. According to the comments on that Twitter post he is targeted for
Telling a steward someone is in his seat
Being with his mum
Is mum wearing a handbag
Being a ‘tourist’ from Malta
Never have been to an away game before
Being snobs, planks and gimps
Someone made an effort to clip a video and post it too…

No I want to sit in my seat, in a decent position to watch the match and not have people stand up in front of me.
I got on early for a good seat, without hassle at Newcastle. Had to move one row forward at Brentford, which wasn't good as too low. So my away matches are restricted, nowadays, owing to standing in stands.

Yes.
As others have said - it’s wrong, rude and ignorant not to do so.

Yes always and I never stand up to watch for the obvious reasons.
1) Having forked out upwards of £20 for my seat why stand up in a payed for sitting area?
2) When people do stand up they in other peoples view of the game and they are guilty of behaving inconsideratly, selfish and so on.
